Being part of the all -Canadian Association of Kinsmen Clubs, it also supports the na- tional project which involves the raising of money for cystic fibrosis research, as well as participating in the activities of the World Council of Young Men's Service Clubs. The club's activities are guided by the following aims and objectives: "The object of the association shall be to promote and direct fellowship among young men of good character within Canada to the end: (1) That they may be improved and educated in modern business and profes- sional methods and ethics; (2) That the interest of each may be stimulated in. the welfare of his commluility; (3) That constitutional authority be upheld; (4) That a spirit of co-operation, tolerance, understanding, and equality between all na- ti,,ns and all peoples be fostered and stimulated, and that unity of thought and purpose be established toward this goal throughout Canada. (5) -That they shall carry on service within their community." The accompanying Kin crest is composed of a saltire (cross) and a mascle (square). The saltire is a St. Andrews' Cross, "symbol for centuries of service by personal sacrifice - a principle espoused by Kinsmen." The mascle, from time im- memorial the syinbol of probity and rec- titude, is that part of the emblem signifying "integrity of character." Its members are indebted to the people of Clinton and the surrounding area for their overwhelming loyalty and support of the club and its endeavours. Such support has enabled the Kinsmen to provide funds and services for the betterment of the communi- ty. These funds have provided assets such as sports facilities and a modern grands- tand; and have supported minor sports, the hospital addition, and the Scout movement, just to mention a few. Services have includ- ed coaching, entertaining senior citizens and shut-ins, canvassing and many others. Some projects, such as the Christmas toy campaign and the numbering of the town's residences and businesses, have been a combination of both services and donations. The Club has enjoyed valued fellowship and derived much satisfaction from con- tributing time and effort toward various fund-raising projects, as well as rendering personal service. Hal Rogers founded Kin The Kinsmen are an all -Canadian service club started in 1920 by Hal Rogers. In the effort to "Serve the Community's Greatest Need" Kinsmen Clubs throughout the Association become deeply involved in community and national projects. Through these endeavors, the members are reward- ed with tangible and visible results. With so many pressing needs across Canada it is not difficult to become wrapped up in local pro- blems and oblivious to more urgent and less visible problems in countries far less for- tunate than ours. One of the aims of Kin is to stimulate in- terestin the welfare of the community. Another aim is to stimulate a spirit of co- operation, tolerance, understanding and equality between all nations and people and -to establish unity of thought and purpose, throughout Canada, toward this goal.
