Boons BILLS. -The counterfeit $5 bills of the Bank of Montreal and of the Molson's Bank, which have turned up in Toronto lately, the former hav- ing first appeared in Lindsay, are thus described : The Montreal ones are on soft, greasy paper, quite unlike the. good, crisp genuine bills, and are poorly executed photogravures. They are numbered from 900,000 up, and can thus be easily detected from the genuine ones, which are numbered only up to 300,000. The Molsons bills are all of the same number 214,428 B., and dated July 5, 1901. They have evidently been photographed, number. and all, while the Montreal bills have probably been numbered with a rub- ber stamp. The printing of both forgeries is very bad, being frequently smudged as though made of a defect- ive press. The black ink on both bills shades into a' dirty grey and the green tinting of the Montreal bill is poorly imitated. _ „9 '''FOR FARMERS TO* THINIC'ABOUT;-'-' An important letter from Mr. H.
