Stirling Jervis, the well known Goderich Township resident and owner of the wildlife conservation sanctuary in the township died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital in Goderich on February 2. He was in his 85th year. Mr. Jervis was known by young and old alike, by local residents and visitors, for the wildlife sanctuary he owned near his RR 2 Clinton home. The pond and wooded area on County Road 31, north of Highway 8 was a favorite visiting spot. Ducks, geese, deer, llama and a variety of animals made their home at the pond which Mr. Jervis established in 1960. He maintain- ed the area without government funding and for his efforts received an Ontario Bicenten- nial Medal in 1984. Mr. Jervis is survived by his wife the former Edna Walters, and three children, Mrs. Mary (Allan) Parks of RR 2 Clinton, Ivan of Mississauga and Walter of Clinton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Dorothy (Frank) McElwain of Lindsay also survives. He was predeceased by one sister Mrs. Verna (Len) Heard and by a brother Robert Jervis, as well as two infant great-grandsons. Funeral services were held at the Ball and Falconer Funeral Home!)
