LONDESBORO - Stormy weather forced
the cancellation of the Muted Chinch ser-
vice on Jan. 20, but on Jan. 27 Jack Tamblyn
welcomed the congregation and Brian
White, Kevin Wright, Dennis and Gerber
Wilts performed duties as ushers.
Rev. Snihur conducteda membership ser-
vice assisted by Gordon Shobbrook. New
members by confirmation are Neil Salver -
da, Brenda Konarski, Dowie Wilts and Kit -
tie McGregor and by transfer are Caron
Snihur, Marsha Szusz, Leonard and Betty
Archambault, Ailene Salverda and Rick
Konarski. A Bible was presented to Kerrie
Szusz upon her graduation from the Junior
Congregation.
The junior teachers were Brenda Nesbitt
and Darlene Hulley. The choir director was
Marsha Szusz and the organist was Lisa
Duizer.
After the service a pot luck dinner was
served. The children were entertained at
Hullett Central School by the Teen Youth
while the annual business meeting was held.
Dave Snihur was elected chairman and Gor-
don Shobbrook was elected secretary for
1985.
In memoriam were Phyllis Burr, Jean
Caldwell, Edith Cartwright, Myrtle Fariser-
vice, Douglas Riley, Thomas Whyte and
Charles Scanlon. Baptisms were performed
for Matthew and Darren, sons of David and
Karen Armstrong, Darrel James, the son of
James and Margaret Medd and adults
Karen Armstrong and Sandra Merner.
Received by confirmation were Stephen
Duizer. Kimberly Wright, Darlene Hulley,
Janet Wilts, " Sandra Merner and Karen
Armstrong. Received by transfer were
Shirley Bell and Brad and Trish Thompson.
The number of parish household is 164,
the number of resident members is 307 and
the number of non-resident members is 142
giving a total of 449. The average weekly at-
tendance was 175. Four members died and
15 transferred.
The 1985 budget mission and service ob-
jective of $7,100 remains the same as 1984.
Session terms end in 1990 for Jack Lee and
Elwood Mitchell. The . Huron -Perth
delegates are Norman Alexander and
Margaret Wright, with an alternate to be
nominated.
The member at large on the manse com-
mittee is Don McGregor and the congrega-
tion life and work committee is Caron
Snihur and Don McGregor.
Norman Alexander reported that money
is needed to be sent to the Canada Grange
Bank Famine Relief. Rev. Snihur thanked
Karen Wright for being church secretary
and Nick Whyte moved a vote of thanks to
Rev. Snihur.
Harry Lear thanked Jim Jamieson for his
work in the past. Jean Fox will be the new
treasurer.
Thanks were also expressed to Carl
Nesbitt, Betty Hulley, Lisa Duizer and Mar-
sha Szusz.
UCW
Thirteen UCW members attended the Jan.
24 meeting. The theme was "World
Outreach."
Helen Lawson opened the meeting.

Longman, Jack and Marion Snell, and the
Whyte families.
Thanks were also received from Mark
Robinson and Harold and Annie Cunn-
ingham, the Huron Day Centre for the
Homebound and Alma College and
Learner's Centre for donations. A letter was
received from the foster child.
The 18th Huron -Perth was held in
Wingham on Jan. Londesboro was in charge
of worship.
WI cards
There were six tables in play on Jan. 25.
The ladies' winners were: high, Hazel Reid;
lone hands, Trudy Pollard and low, June
Fothergill. For the men the high was Gerrit
Wilts; lone hands, Ted Fothergilll and low,
Wilfred Shortreed. In charge was Marjorie
Anderson. The next evening of cards will be
on Feb. 8.
Personals
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Brad
Thompson on the birthof a boy on Jan. 19 in
Clinton Public Hospital.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Bert
yon on a new grandson, Albert Jonathon
orn on Jan. 26 to Ron and Kathy Moes in St.
J sephvsfospital, London. The boy weighed
three pounds,one and a half ounces and is a
brother for Laura Kathryn and Kerissa
Joanne. .
The Snihurs are on holidays from Jan. 28
to Feb. 4. During this time, Rev. Ken
Bauman of Blyth United Church will be on
call for any emergencies.
UCW members attending the Huron -Perth
Presbyterial in Wingham on Jan. 28 were
Brenda Radford, Joan Whyte, Gail Lear and
Betty Hulley.
More than 30 family members attended
the 80th birthday party for Jean Scott of
Londesboro on Jan. 27. The celebration was
held in Seaforth at the home of Mrs. Scott's
granddaughter, Dave and Jill Jervis.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen spent last
weekend in Clinton with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Scruton, Colleen and John.
Mrs. Bob Burns was admitted to Clinton
Public Hospital Jan. 18 and returned home
on Jan. 28. '
Sunday visitors with Mr'. and Mrs. Vic
Stackhouse and Mark were daughter and
husband Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Pfaff, Dean,
Shane and Jenimae of Huron Park and niece
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hern also of Huron Park.
There were some from Teeswater storm -
stayed last weekend in the village at the
homes of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston and
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bruce.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Hulley and Denise
returend home on Jan. 22 from spending 'a
month in Florida.
Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allen
Shaddick were Mr. and Mrs. Dirk Garlichs
of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Shaddick,
Stephen, Danny and Krystal of Brantford,
Miss Ruth Shaddick and Mrs. Marion Ward,
of Clinton.
School studies feature
on winter wonder

Hullett Happenings
LONDESBORO - Many of the junior
grades at Hullett Central School are
studying snow. Grade 3 'is studying what
snow is made up of and how it feels. Grade 2
is going to send creative 'writing to their
friends at the Huron Day Centre.
On January 15 a dental health nurse came.
She went around the classes and looked
inside our mouths and gave us dental
advice.
On Thursday there was an assembly for
Grades 6, 7 and 8. It was about the use and
'abuse of alcohol and drugs. Students saw a
film called "The Alcohol You" and had a
discussion.
Volleyball teams are practising every
,day. The coaches, Mr. Griffin and. Mrs.
Cooke are training them for the tournament.
Go for the gold, Hullett.
