Epworth League Wedding.
We clip the following front the
Sterling (Col,). Democrat of Oct. 24
which refets to the marriage of Miss
Hannah Blatchford, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Richard Blatchford, town:—
The Methodist church was the scene
of a pretty wedding Thursday evening
when Miss Hannah Blatchford and
Mr. Alfred E. Warren were made one.
Miss Blatchforcl having been presi-
dent of the Epworth League for sev-
eral terms and Mr. Warren an active
member since its organization, the
unique idea of a league wedding was
conceived and carried out. The church
decorations were in red and white —
the league colors—palms and potted
plants, The arch near the altar rail-
ing, under which the bridal couple
stood, was decorated with asparagus
and autumn leaves and red and white
candles. Suspended in the centre of
the arch was the league badge, made
in the league colors. In the rear and
on either side were banked palms and
potted plants. Mr. Pettit presided at
the organ, playing the wedding
march as the bridal couple moved up
the aisle, and also playing softly dnr-
ing the ceremony and at the departure
of the couple.
The bride was becomingly attired in
white silk organdie, trimmed with
satin ribbons, sequins and applique.
She carried a white bound bible—the
gift of her long-time friend, Mrs. I. N.
Cole—and bride's roses. The ring
was born by little Vivian Withrow in
a huge calla huly, and the ribbon -
bearers were Merle Warren and Edna
Smith, all being relatives of the groom.
• The bridesmaids, all members of the
league cabinet, se•ere Grace Warren,
Florence Smith and Edith Beckford.
Each was dressed in white and carried
boquets made of, red carnations and
title. Ralph Femur and Archie
Warren nephews of the groom and
Percy Oonklin, also a member of the
league cabinet, completed the wedding
party. The ceremony, performed in
the presence of the members of the
church and leegue and a few outside
friends, by the pastor, R. N. Smith,
was most impressive, the ring service

ANOTHER REMEDY FOR SAN

-----
Mr. Dryden, Minister of Agricul-
ture, has been advised by the chair-
man of the San Jose commission, that
the commission has, after investi-
gation, approved of Inspector Fisher's
recently announced scale remedy.
The commissioners, at the request of
Mr. Dryden, spent Monday and Tues-
day of this week in the vicinity of
St. Catherines, accompanied by Prof.
Pletcher, of Ottawa, where they visit-
ed the orchards in which Mr. Fisher's
experinients with kerosene emulsion
and lime and sulphur has been con-
ducted. In the report to the minis-
ter these remedies are spoken of as be-
ing "surprisingly effective." This dis-
covery was made after a long period
of experimenting on the part of Mr.
Fisher. the Government San Jose ln-
-Spector, and is independent of the
fumigation plan. "I feel there is no
doubt," said Mr. Dryden, that with
proper application of the remedies
saggestedthe scale can, be kept in
.heck; and in orchards not badly
effected I think it can be eradicated."

Education some time ago to abolish
Part I. of the public school leaving
evamination has been received with
great favor in all parts of the ,'Pro-

the Minister of Education on Friday.
"There have been two or three pro-
tests received from teachers, but,
generally speaking, there is a ten-
deucy throughout the world toward
lessening the number of examinations.
The policy of the Education Depart-
ment, is to have as few merely compet-

"1 had foryears patiently borne the digrace,
sufferiag, misery and privations due to rey
husband's drinking habits. Hearing of your
marvellous remedy for the cure of drunkenness,
which I could give my husband secretly, I de-
cided to try it. I procured a package and
mixed it in his food and coffee, and, as tho
remedy was odorless and testeless, he did not
know what it was that so qeickly relieved his
craving for liquor, He soon began to pick up
ikele his appetite for solid food returned, he
stuck to his work regularly, and wrenow havers
happy home., After he was completely cured I
told him what I had done, when he acknowl-
edged that it had been his saying, as he had
not the resolution to break off of bis own
accord. I heartily advise all women afflicted as

A PATNETIO LETTER
"I had for a Irieg time been thinking oftrying the
Tasteless Samaria Prescription treatment onmy
husband for his driniting habits, but I was afraid he
would discover that I was giving him medicine, and
the thought unnerved me, I hesitated for nearly a
week, bui one day when he came home very meth
intoxicated end his week's salary nearly all spent, 1
threvv off all fear and determined to make an effort
to save ourhome from the ruin I saw coming, at all
hazards. I sent for yeur Tasteless, Samaria. Pre-
scription, and put it in his coffee as dirested next
morning and watched and prayed for tbe result.
At neon I gave him more and also at supper. He
never suspected a thing, and I then boldly kept right
on giving it regularly, as I had discovered some-
thing that set every nerve in my body tingling with
hope and happiness, and' could see a bright Inters
spread out before me—a peaceful, happy home, a
share in the good things of 11(0, 50 attennve, laving
husband, comforts and everything else dear to a
woman's heart; for my husband had told me that
whiskey was vile stuff and he was taking a dislike
to it. It was only too true, for before I had given
him the full course he had stopped drinking alto-
gether, but I kept giving him the medicine till ft
was gone, and then sent for another lot, to have on
hand if he should relapse, as be had done from
promises before. He never has and I am writing
you this letter to tell you how thankful I am, I
honestly believe it will cure the worst cases."

A portion of her letter reads as follows :---
My father had often promised mother to stop
drinking, and would do so for a time but then
returned to it atrouger than ever. One day
after a terrible spree, he said to as: 'It's no
use. I can't stop drinking.' Our hearts seemed
to turn to stone, and we decided to try the
Tasteless Samaria Prescription, which we had
read about in the papers. We gave him the
remedy, entirely without his knowledge, in his
tea, coffee, or lood segularly, according to
directions, and,he never knew be was taking it.
One package removed all his desire for liquor,
and he says it is now distastefel, to him. His
health and appetite are also wonderfully im-
proved, and no one would know him for the
same man. It is now fifteen months since we
gave it to him and we feel sure that' the change ,
is for good. Please send me one of your little
