I wish
Grandma was
home with us
If you were able to have anything you
want for Christmas, what would it be? This
question is something that people
misunderstand. Most people you ask would
say toys, clothes and many other material
things. This is the first side of the question.
The second side is health, helping and
making other people happy ot• have someone
there with you from another country.
I have thought, it would be great if my
grandma could be with us on Christmas.
Sometimes talking to her on the telephone
isn't even enough. For elderly folks it's just
wonderful to get a call from someone from
far away. The Salvation Army and groups
and organizations like these make people
who don't have much very happy. This is a
question that might make a person think.

Christmas is Coming
Christmas is coming,
You can feel it in the air.
Children are laughing and playing,
Stores are decorated with great care.
The streets are bright with trees and
Christmas signs.
It is getting cold,
The snow is coming,
It's been here before.
Presents are being bought.
So go out and enjoy the pre -Christmas
season!

A Christmas Wish
One day I looked on the calendar and there
was only one more day until Christmas. I
told my mom. She said that I could go
Christmas shopping.
I bought our family a new T.V. I asked my
mom if we both could go shopping. On
December 24th we all went shopping. I
bought a rattle for my baby brother and the
rest of the fancily a stereo. December 25th I
woke up to see a lot of presnts under the
tree. We had fun.

Phillip and Arthur
pass the Christmas test
"Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas!"
Two little boys in their pyjamas came
shooting and running out of their room. They
ran through the stone halls of the Palace, to
the banquet room. There they stopped short
in disbelief: The tree, the brightly wrapped
gifts and the giant wreath that hung over the
fireplace were gone.
"Mother," yelled the oldest boy Phillip
who was nine. He ran back down the hall to
gethis, mother and father, the king and
queen. Arth , who was seven, stayed in the
banquet room staring at the yule log slowly
burning in he fireplace.
Phillip r thrned to the banquet room with
his parents. As the four gazed in wonder,
they heard a sound like thunder over in the
corner. They turned to see Thomas the
Terrible appear in a cloud of smoke.
"Merry Christmas," he said with a snarl.
"I hope you are enjoying it."
"Where are our presents?" asked Phillip.
"Ya! And what about the
tree?" snapped
Arthur.
"Silence!" boomed the evil wizard. "I
have taken everybody's presents, trees and
decorations because Christmas is no more. I
have cast a spell over the kingdom. All the
Christmas decorations have been locked up
in my castle with the Christmas spirit.
Gloom, will descend over the world and
'Merry Christmas' will be. a forbidden
word."
"Never!" shouted Phillip.
"No?" the wizard asked slyly. "Well you
just wait and see. Christmas will never
. come again!" And in a puff of smoke he was
gone. •
"What are we :going to do?" wailed
Arthur. "Christmas is ruined."
"No it isn't," his mother the queen said.
'We can still have fun. '
So the royal family played games, sung
carols, had a feast and thoroughly enjoyed
themselves.
"That was a good Christmas," Phillip
remarked as the two boys got into bed.
"Yes," said Arthur, "But I still wish
everybody had. 'their presents and trees:
Some kids were mighty disappointed this
morning."
"Hey!" Phillip had an idea. "Why don't
we go to the wizard's castle tomorrow to get
their gifts back?"
So, the next day, bright and early, the two
princes set off on their horses towards
Castle Gloom. When they got to the gate
they tied their horses to a nearby tree and
pushed open the gate to walk through.
"Quiet!" hissed Phillip as Arthur shut the
gate with a clang.
The boys sneaked under an archway,
down a hall and up the spiral staircase to the
tower. On the way up they heard a voice.
Phillip peered around the curve of the wall.
He saw a soldier, talking to himself,
guarding the door to the tower room.
"Quick, listen." Phillip whispered to
Arthur and the younger boy nodded his head
excitedly. The Phillip ran up the stairs and
yelled at the guard.
"Catch me you lazy oaf," he shouted. The
angry guard ran after him, clanking in his
armour.
"Now," shouted Phillip to Arthur.
As the guard ran past, Arthur stuck his
foot out and tripped him. There was a loud
clanking and clanging as the armoured
guard went tumbling down the stairs, head
over heels.
"Oh, oh," said Arthur. "1 hear someone
coming."
The two boys skipped up the stairs to the
door and opened it. There they saw a
beautiful sight. The room was filled with
trees and presents and decorations. They
ran towards the trees and the presents, as
foot steps came hurriedly up the staircase.
"What is going on here?" boomed the evil
wizard from the doorway.
The two princes turned in fright to the
door. What they saw made them gasp in
amazement. The wizard was no longer there
but instead, a shimmering figure of an
angel, as beautiful as could be, stood in his
place. The magnificent lady spoke in a
gentle warm voice:
"Well, it's the two princes from the
Palace. I was hoping you'd come."
"Who are you? Where is the wizard?"
Arthur asked uneasily.
"Fear not, for I have good news for you.
The kingdom was given a test. I posed as an
evil wizard to see if you remembered the
true meaning of Christmas. You have
passed the test • by having a • Merry
Christmas even without presents. I will now
return all the presents, so have a MERRY
CHRISTMAS.
