Regular hours will be resumed on Dec. 27. For New Year's, the crown corporation will again be closing at 4 p.m. On Jan. 1, 1985, it will be closed and will reopen on Jan. 2 with the usual hours. The 'Clinton News -Record office will be open on Dec. 24 until noon and closed Dec. 25 and Dec. 26. Normal hours will resume on Dec. 27. During New Year's, the office will be closed at noon and on Jan. 1. It will reopen on Jan. 2 and return to usual business hours. Becker's convenience store will close at 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will i'emain dos- ed on Christmas Day. They will reopen on Dec. 26 and will continue norrnakhours until New Year's Eve when they will close at 10 p.m. The, store will open again on New Year's Day. Mac's Milk will close on Christmas Eve at 11 p.m. and will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Christmas Day. Regular hours will be maintained during New Year's. The Bank of'Montreal will be open on Dec. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be closed on Dec. 25 and Dec. 26. Normal business hours will be re -instituted on Thursday and Friday. On Dec. 31 the bank will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be closed on .the following day. Normal hours resume on Jan. 2. The Brewer's Retail store will be open all this week, including Wednesday. The store will be open on Dec. 24 until 6 p.m. and will be closed both Dec. 25 and 26. Regular business hours will resume until New Year's when the store will be closed. Jan. 2 will see the store open and then the usual hours will start again. The Liquor Control Board of Ontario store closes on Dec. 25 and 26 and New Year's Day. Regular hours are otherwise enacted. Area schools are closed after Dec. 21 and will reopen on Jan. 7, 1985. - Clinton garbage normally scheduled for pick-up on Dec. 25 will be collected on Dec. 24. The usual Wednesday pick-up will be col- lected the following day on Dec. 27. The Jan. 1 collection will be done on the preceding day, Dec. -31. Businesses in Clinton will open their doors again on Dec. 27. Under the Retail Business Holiday Act, retail businesses are required to close every Sun- • day, New Year's Day, Good Friday, Vic- toria Day, Dominion Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and Box- ing Day. On those days, no goods or services can be offered for sale or sold to the public, and no member of the public can be admitted to the establishment. The law is enforced by the police. If a person or firm is charged and convicted, they can be fined up to $10,000 at the discretion of the judge. • • Some stores and establishments can re- main open on a holiday if they meet certain requirements as to floor area and the number of people serving the public. Other establishments are free to remain open regardless of sii1' and the number of people working, depending on the type of goods and services sold. The "small stores exemp- tion" will be considered first. The exemption does not include establishments which have as their prin- cipal business the sale of goods which are recreational or educational in nature. Nine members, six Ponorary Kinettes and five guests enjoyed the delicious. potluck. The. Kinettes have planned two communi- ty service projects for this' month. There will be free skating on Thursday, December 27th, 1 -•3 p.m. Pop and potato chips will be given to the children after skating. To brighten the stay for those in the Clinton Hospital on New Year's Day, the Kinettes have planned for a special tray favour. The annual Hawaiian Dance will be on Saturday, March 2nd. All proceeds from this project , will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Other donations for this month were Huron, Christmas Bureau.- , $200.00, Huron Day Centre - $100.00. Over 250 musicians will take part, including the London Concert Singers, the Concert Players Orchestra, the London Citadel Salvation Army Band, and the London Youth Choir. Under the baton of Conductor Gerald Fagan, the program will feature familiar carols, Messiah Choruses, and the premiere of a commissioned work by London's Ken Bray for orchestra and chorus. Turkey and giving for Sorority group CLINTON - On December 11 the Zeta Omega Sorority Chapter held their annual Christmas dinner and party at the home of Judy Stuart. Following the turkey dinner, three new girls became pledges of the Beta Sigma Phi. They are Debbie Roy, Lorraine Bell and Susan Fines. Two special guests arrived, Santa and his musical wife Mrs. Claus. They handed out the secret sister gifts and the end found a box of chocolates representing a pregnancy. One of the new girls! A short business meeting was held and the social committee reported that plans are be- ing made for a euchre party. The 25 -cent. draw was made and Anne Reid was the lucky winner. The next meeting will be held on January 8 at Anne Reid's home.
