The Goderich Knight Riders, a young
ladies Team in the Blyth Brood League
is definitely a team to watch out for in the
future. However, if this season's perfor-
mance up to now is any indication, the
future may not be that far away for this
team. The Knight Riders, are only in their
second year of existence, and are already`
respected by many of their opponents. Last
season the team lost games by such scores
as8-0and 5-0and didn't manage towin a
single game. Already this year the Knight
Riders have recorded two wins and a tie,
and have scored eleven goals, while allow-
ing 15 in nine games. Also the team has one
of the league's top scorers in Debbie Mit-
chelmore.
On December 13, the Knight Riders hit a
high note for the season as they battled first
place Lucknow to a scoreless draw. Audrey
Patterson was in net to post the third
shutout this season for the Knight Riders,
while Sheila Hunter recorded her eighth of
the year for Lucknow.
In further action on December It the
Blyth Bears knocked off the Lanesville
Lords by a score of 2 - 1. The Bears opened
the scoring early in the first period when
John Bird set up Larry Sowerbyy, However,
Lanesville tied the game before%the period
endedon a goal by Greg Hackett from Jim
Van Osch. Randy Larnmerant scored the
game winner with 10 minutes remaining on
a pass from John Bird. The Lords took 28
minutes in penalties during the contest com-
pared to four by the Bears.
Three goals and an assist by David Souch
led the 8th Liners to a 7 - 0 rout of the Clinton
Warriors. Irvin Pease added a goal and two
assists, while Gordon Machan had two
goals, Arnold Pease two assists, Dave Lin -
tori one goal and Jim Blake one assist.
George Foulon was in goal to record the
fourth shutout this season for the 8th Liners.
Sue Kolkman posted her seventh shutout
and Yvonne Cronyn her fifth, as Sparlings
and Auburn battled to a scoreless overtime
draw.
Doug de Boer. with a goal and two assists,
led the Lakelet Hornets to a 3 - 0 victory over
the Goderich Oarsmen. Phil Black added
two goals for the Hornets while Ron de Boer
had one assist. It was Dale Cober's fifth
shutout of the season.
On December 11, two goals and one assist
by Brenda Nesbitt enabled the Blyth Bain-
toneers to defeat the Goderich Knight
Riders 4 - 1. Lori Hesselwood also added a
goal and an assist for the winners, while
Shivon Youngblut had a goal and Becky
Hamm an assist. Debbie Mitchelmore
scored the Knight Riders' lone goal of the
game.
Two goals each by Andy Battye, Ron de
Boer an oug de Boer led the Lakelet
Hornets to 10 2 triumph over the Clinton
Warriors. Single goals for the Hornets went
to Calvin Quipp, George Ireland, John
Kreller and Steve Douglas. In the assist
department for the winners Phil Black and
Doug de Boer had two apiece, while Abe
Versteeg, Ken Quipp, Steve Douglas and
George Ireland had one each. Jim Phelan

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year to all readers of the Auburn news.
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Moore of Stratford
visited on Monday with Mrs. Tom Johnston
and Miss Laura Phillips.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wall of Wingham
called on friends in the village on Monday.
Winners at last week's euchre party were:
novelty- Ted Mills; high lady, Mrs. Edgar
Daer; low lady, Mrs. Ken Glousher; high
man, Orval McPhee; and low man, Donald
Haines. Due to holidays next week, garbage
collection will take place on Thursday,
December 27 instead of Boxing Day,
December 26 in the village of Auburn.
• At a recent concert at Rameloo Nursing
Home by the members of Knox United
Church junior choir, duets were sung by
Stuart Bakker, Kevin Webster and Susan
Dobie and Sherri Kryanowski and Nicole
Middelkamp and Karen Bakker. Sorry for
the omission of these names.
Christmas Party
A large crowd of children from the
Auburn area enjoyed the Lions Club annual
Christmas party held recently in the Auburn
Community Memorial Hall.
Interesting films were shown by Ross
Robinson with the projector: Mickey
Mouse's Trailer, Merrie Melodies, Tales in
the Vienna Woods and Walt Disney's -
Mickey's Christmas Carol.
Members of the Lions Club made pop -corn
and orange drinks for everyone and a carol
sing was led by Mrs. Robert Worsen.
Santa Claus arrived and after talking with
all the children, gave each a large bag of
candy and treats.
Anniversary
Potted Christmas flowers and a large
decorated 50th anniversary cake centering
the head table were the decorations in the
Auburn Community Memorial Hall last Sun-
day afternoon for the Open House for Gerrit
and Corti Beimers on the occasion of their
golden wedding anniversary.
The guest book was in the charge of Glen-
na and Stacey Buffinga and over 250 signed
the register from Toronto, Strathroy, Blyth,
Brussels, Clinton, Goderich and the sur-
rounding community.
The bride and groom of 50 years wore at-
tractive corsages and Corri wore a beautiful
gold necklace which her mother had receiv-
ed on the occasion of her 50th wedding an-
niversary. When Corri left Holland to make
her home in Canada, she presented the
necklace to her and she proudly wore it last
Sunday.
The guests were welcomed by Mrs. Helen
Johnston. The waitresses, Grace Buffinga,
Margaret Buffinga, Janine Buffinga, Grace
Johnston, Helen Johnston and Clara Fac-
chinato served fancy. Dutch cookies and
cake.
Gifts and cards were received to mark the
occasion. A plaque from the Ontario
Government (William Davis; premier of On-
tario`.and greetings were brought by Murray

Jeanne Sauve and greetings from David
Peterson, leader of the Opposition, Murray
Cardiff, M.P.P. and John Aird, Lieutenant -
Governor of Ontario were also received.
Mrs. Marjorie McDougall and Mrs. Tom
Jardin presented Mr. and Mrs. Beimers
with a 50th anniversary wall plate trimmed
with gold on behalf of the neighbours.

Tracy Hill's two goals and one assist pac-
ed Sparlings to a 6 - 0 romp over Yogi's
Girls. Sue Kolkman added a goal and an
assist, while Marg Anderson, Dianne
Nethery and Donna Walsh had single goals.
John Beadle's two goals and one assist
lifted the Lucky Devils to a 9 -1 win over the
Maitland Dirt Riders. Rodger Forsyth and
Mike Schumacher added one goal and two
assists each for the winners. Also scoring
for the Devils were Bruce Lorentz with two
goals, while singles went to Wayne Carter,
Lin Hewitt and Dave Carter. Steve Eadie,
Brad Johnston and Donnie Carter had one
assist apiece. Brian Westbrook set up Mike
Hawkins for the Dirt Riders' lone goal.
