The 1984 Christmas exams have. begun.
This set of exams is my first, as well as the
other grade nine student's. Exams have
been an inevitable part of high school life for
many years. This year the usual three sets
of exams have been reduced to two; one set
now and the second in June. I have been told'
exams are easy as long as you study 25
hours a day. I have also been told that if you
study for three hours for each exam, you
can pass!
I really hope that exams are not as dif-
ficult as I have been told, but I am trying to
prepare for the worst. With exams so near I
must seem as a total recluse to my family,
fleeing to my room to study whenever I have
a chance.
This is the first year that I have been able
to answer the question, "What do Christmas
Holidays mean to you?" I have answered,
"The end of exams" and breathed a sigh of
relief. I really hope exams are as easy as the
teachers have hinted. They also say though,
that exams should be taken seriously. I am
sure that we will take exams seriously, I,am
also sure that once the exams are over the
student body will return to normal.

Albums make great Christmas gifts
By Janet Tench
Christmas is coming and I have a brief
comment on several possible gift albums for
those who enjoy pop music. These five
albums are all excellent, .yet all are dif-
ferent in style.
For those who like the unusual, I strongly
recommend Juno nominee Dalbello's
Whomanfoursays. This is a dynamic album;
using stark instrumentation, elemental
lyrics, and.Dalbello's incredible voice range
to create the most innovative music I've
ever heard. (101/2/10)
For those who like their music soft and
melodic,. pick up a copy of Chris de Burgh's

everyone. De Burgh, you see, is not just a
musician. His album is also rich With

logical presentation of an anti -war thesis.
First it depicts people today, then how we

the day after. A must for all ' humanists.

Finally, there is REM with Reckoning, the

Music club gears up .for concert
By Kim Cook
It is Christmas time again and the CHSS
Music Club is getting ready for their annual
Christmas concert. This concert will be held
on Tuesday, December 18 at 7:30. The band
and the Grade 9 music class will play.
The choir will perform a Cantata, "The
Song of Christmas"' by Roy Ringuald: The
girls chorus. and ensemble will also sing. All
of these groups have been working very
hard on their music the past few months.
At Christmas time the choir and band also
go on a tour of the surrounding elementary'
schools. These include Clinton Public,
Huron Centennial, Blyth Public, Clinton and
District. Christian , and Hullett Central
Schools. These tours take Mace the -last
week of school, before the holidays. In giv-
ing these performances for the elementary
schools ye are trying to encourage those
students in Grade 8 especially, to join the'
choir and band when they get to high school.
Another thing the music club is planning
right now is to get new uniforms. If you have
seen the red vests, you can see why. We are
also thinking about a . trip to either
Washington or Montreal and Quebec. This
trip wuuld be in the spring of the next school
year in 1986. It seems a long way away but
we have to start planning now. This trip pro-
mises to be very exciting and interesting!
We hope to see you all Tuesday,
December 18 at the Christmas concert.' It is
going to be a good show so don't miss it.
