Personal Income Tax
This course is designed for the individ-
ual taxpayer, including owners of small
unincorporated businesses, who desire
knowledge of the Canadian Personal
Income Tax system for the purpose of
gaining skills in planning for and prep-
aration of Personal Income Tax Re-
turns. Topics will cover those areas
that most commonly affect the individu-
al taxpayer and will include, sources of
tax information, types of taxable and
non-taxable income, deductions from
taxable income, and various tax credits
available. Corporate Income Tax will
not be covered. Method of instruction
will be lecture, practical exercises and
discussion with students encouraged to
share real experiences and problems in
personal taxation. Materials will be pro-
vided.

Preparation For Retirement
This course will be of interest to
persons about to retire or already
retired. . While it covers many of the
practical problems and the changes
such a person faces, it especially
emphasizes the attitude every retiree
needs in order to enjoy this new phase
of life and find it enriching. Through
lectures,; activities, films, sharing
through discussion and resource mate-
rials, those taking the course will cover
such topics as: The Myths and Reali-
ties of Retirement, Housing, Financing
Retirement, Emotional Well-being and
Physical Fitness.

Introduction To Psychology N
This course gives an introduction to the
basic principles of learning, memory,
cognitive processes, intelligence,
human development, sensation, per-
ception, motivation,,. emotion, personali-
ty theory and assessment, adjustment
to stress, abnormal behaviour, thera-
pists, and social psychology.

Sign Language 1 S
This is a basic course in the use of sign
language and fingerspelling. Students
will progress from learning the fun-
damentals of this language to dialogu-
ing. It will appeal to parents of the deaf
and hard of hearing, scuba divers and
anyone who has an interest in the lan-
guage.

Freelance Writing And Selling
Students taking this course will experi-
ence the mechanics of preparing and
selling a magazine article.
They will learn: the importance of
keeping a journal; how to find stories
and conduct research; how to find
markets and query editors; how to
conduct an interview; how to write,
revise and type a story, ready for
submission; and how to keep records
of transactions.

Understanding The Stock Market S
Students will gain an understanding of
common stocks, preferred shares,
bonds, stock exchanges, corporate
structures, annual reports, etc. and
learn to use financial statements and

brokerage houses, investment strategy.

REAL ESTATE
PRE -REGISTRATION N
Although the three Introduction to Rea(
Estate courses are designed for people
wishing to become registered to sell real
estate, they are open to anyone desiring
a basic knowledge of the real estate In-
dustry.
You may attend courses on a part-time
basis or on an intensive 6 hour per day
basis. To qualify to write the examina-
tion, 70% attendance is required in each
segment of the course.
Introduction To Real Estate
SEGMENT 1 is a general introductory
course containing 10 sessions. The
material is of such a nature that it will at
once provide information for the public
and information related to the real estate
business for potential registrants. The
course is 30 hours in length.

SEGMENT 2 is a 60 hour lecture course
containing 20 sessions devoted to the
theoretical and technical aspects of Real
Estate principles and practice. Appli-
cants for Segment 2 must have success-
fully completed Segment 1.

SEGMENT 3 is a workshop course
consisting of 60 hours in 20 three hour
sessions and deals with the practical
aspects of the Real Estate Brokerage
business. The practical sessions will be
built upon the theoretical matters dis-
cussed in Segment 2. Applicants for
Segment 3 must have successfully
completed Segment 2.
