Furniture Refinishing S In this hands-on shop course, students learn to use the tools and materials required for finish removal, refinishing and furniture care. Plumbing For The Householder S Topics include: the use of metal and plastic pipes, how pumps and hot water tanks work, repairing taps, soldering and threading pipes. Residential Wiring S Participants will learn the proper in- stallation of basic electrical equipment, wiring, switches, outlets, boxes, lights, safety practices and codes and working in the normal house. Chicken -Scratch embroidery is worked on gingham and gives the appearance of handwoven lace. It is often used in a , decorative manner on borders and hems. Introduction To Crochet S A course for the beginner covering basic stitches, working pattern variations, pattern reading, blocking• and finishing work. Knit Design Workshop N This course is designed for hand or machine knitters with a good basis in knitting who are capable of following knitting patterns but who, for one reason or another would like to acquire the ability to design and draft their own patterns.' It offers an understanding of the properties and uses of different yarns and stitches, the possibilities of using unusual materials and decorative techniques,' an understanding of dif- ferent styles and how to make them work, the techniques of measuring for and drafting a pattern, the art of finishing a garment well, and time to ask questions, solve problems, share expertise, and to create and show off a finished product.
