In this hands-on shop course, students
learn to use the tools and materials
required for finish removal, refinishing
and furniture care. There is an additional
supply fee depending on the size of the
student's project.

Plumbing For The Householder S
Topics include: the use of metal and
plastic pipes, how pumps and hot water
tanks work, repairing taps, soldering
and threading pipes. The objective of
this course is to eliminate unnecessary
repair costs and to have the homeowner
prepared in case of emergencies.

Residential Wiring S
Participants will learn the proper in-
stallation of basic electrical equipment,
wiring, switches, outlets, boxes, lights,

own gift. Learn the art of Chicken -
Scratch embroidery. Chicken -Scratch
embroidery is worked on gingham and
gives the appearance of handwoven
lace. It is often used in a , decorative
manner on borders and hems. A small
gift can easily be made from the sample
you will make in class.

Introduction To Crochet S
A course for the beginner covering basic
stitches, working pattern variations,
pattern reading, blocking• and finishing
work. Yarns and crochet hooks are not
included in the fee. Students should
bring a crochet hook (No. 5 to 8) and
crochet material. Students will be able to
complete several small projects.

A 3 -hour mini -course on the special
techniques needed for making Europe-
an -style duvets. Topics include selec-
tion of materials, measuring, baffling

Knitting S
From beginner basics to advanced
knitting techniques. Students will work
sample stitches in class and novelty
projects from provided patterns on their
own time. Supplies will be purchased

needles size 4.50 mm to the first class.

Machine Knitting S
Prerequisite is access to an available
knitting "machine. Upon completion of
this course a beginner or a non -knitter
will be able to create a variety of
detailed garments. Included are tech-
niques focusing on details and finish-
ings as . well as the basic instructions.

Knit Design Workshop N
This course is designed for hand or
machine knitters with a good basis in
knitting who are capable of following
knitting patterns but who, for one
reason or another would like to acquire
the ability to design and draft their own
patterns.' It offers an understanding of
the properties and uses of different
yarns and stitches, the possibilities of
using unusual materials and decorative
techniques,' an understanding of dif-
ferent styles and how to make them
work, the techniques of measuring for
and drafting a pattern, the art of
finishing a garment well, and time to
ask questions, solve problems, share
expertise, and to create and show off a
finished product.
