Four courses are mandatory from at least two groups within "A to E"; the remaining elective courses may be other OMDP or non-OMDP courses evaluated as appropriate by the college for certificate credit. All courses must have been complet- ed since April 1st of the previous sixth year. 2. Minimum requirements for course credit are: (a) Attendance of at least 80% of scheduled course hours. . (b) Acknowledgement by the course leader and the college that satis- factory attendance and participa- tion have been rendered by the participant for credit recognition. (c) The college must be satisfied that a participant's program and achievement merit the certificate prior to its issuance. 3. The four mandatory courses referred to in 1 above must be completed by participants as registered OMDP participants at any Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology. 4. No course credit may be applied towards more than one OMDP certifi- cate. Note: Categories from the Business . Management Studies Certificate are indicated in these pages as BMS -A, BMS -B etc. Supervisory Studies.Certificate Satisfactory completion of six courses, chosen as indicated below, from the following categories: A. Human Resources B. Work Related C. Electives Optional OMDP Credits (maximum two courses). Criteria Requirements: - two courses chosen from category A - one course chosen from category B - one course chosen from category C - two may be OMDP or non-OMDP College approved certificate related courses - all courses must have been completed since April 1st of the previous sixth year. - where an applicant has already ap- plied OMDP course credits for Human Relations and Communications towards a "Business Management Studies "certificate, course/module substitutions from Group B and/or C are required for Group A credit. - a combination of ten training modules for first-line supervisors may be substituted for a course in the same category. Note: 'Categories for .the Supervisory Studies Certificate are indicated in these pages as SS -A, SS -B and SS -C etc. Courses offered this semester are: The ABC's Of Selling A course covering all aspects of selling from knowing the customer's needs to dealing with the competition. Effective Communication In Today's, Business World Participants in this course will find it an excellent opportunity to improve their skills in listening, negotiating, making presentations, and writing. They will learn about the Communication process: one way and two way, formal and informal, and communications in a meeting. This course relies more on practical exercises than on case studies. Effective Labour Relations This course is intended for managers, industrial relations officers, first-line supervisors and other business and industry personnel involved with labour relations. You will learn through case studies, role playing and discussion. Topics include: certification, content of collective agreement, management rights, complaints, grievances and arbi- tration. Effective Supervision - Communications Objectives: To improve Management ability through effective verbal and written communication.
