Small Business Eponomics A
This course examines the principles
and skills required for the administra-
tion of small private enterprises. Topics
include: legal forms of business organi-
zation, finance, credit, taxation, govern-
ment involvement, layout and locational
factors, risk management, and mer-
chandising.

Uhion/Management Relations A
The objective of this course is to
promote a better understanding of
union -management relations from the
viewpoints of both labour and manage-
ment. You will study the historical rise
of the union movement and the consti-
tutional and legal growth of labour in
Canada as well as how it relates to the
United States through international
unions. Other topics covered will be the
formation of a union, certification pro-
cedures, and the bargaining process
through to arbitration.

Prerequisite: Some knowledge of Data
Processing Terminology
This course teaches Systems Analysis
and Design using the tools and theories
of STRUCTURED ANALYSIS.
Individuals currently employed in Data
Processing who wish to develop their
Systems Analysis and Design skills as
well as ANYONE who will be participat-
ing in the design and development of a
system will benefit from this course.
The successful student will be able to
define and communicate the require-
ments of a system, translate that
requirement into a design and then
implement that design using a top-down,
iterative approach.

Typing - Keyboard Skills A
This is a course for those who wish to
familiarize themselves with the typewrit-
er keyboard in order to be able to
operate computers more effectively.
Upon successful completion of the
course, the student will be able to type
by touch, from straight copy at a
consistent typing speed of 30 words
per minute. Other typing courses are
listed in the Clerical/Secretarial section
of this catalogue.

Computer Literacy For The Office A
Prerequisites: none (minimal typing
skills are an asset).
This course provides an introduction to
computers from the point of view of an
office worker. The course considers
three. major areas: word processing,
electronic spreadsheets for financial
analysis, and electronic data manage-
ment (databases). Each section in-
cludes hands-on. work on the College's
computers. In addition, thecourse
covers basic elements of computers
and some ,of the jargon of computers.
The course will be of interest to
secretarial/clerical workers who wish
to become more saleable in the job
market.
