Make a personal
creation with
each gift •
1
When you wrap a gift, you express
yourself as uniquely as when you sign your
name. Your tastes and creativity — even
your sense of humor combine to make
each gift a personal c.. eation that will
delight the recipient
. That's why, in gift. • • g, there are no
set rules, but there are c°rtain basics --
such as how to wap round box or tie a pom
pom bow — that will make the task easy and
fun.
Gift wrap stylists offer the following sug-
gestions that will help you> create a profes-
sional looking package.
Wrapping the Box
First line the box by pleating two or three
thicknesses of tissue as wide as the width of
the box, and do the same for the length, then
cross t»em in the box. For the prettiest ef-
fect choose a color of tissue that com-
plements the dominant color of your gift
wrap. Next, gather additional tissue neatly
around the gift, if necessary, and place it in
the box. Fold the tissue lining over the gift
and if you like, use a color co-ordinated gift
enclosure.
To wrap a square box, centre the cut
paper beneath the box. Lifting the paper,
trim the overlap so it can be turned under
slightly to create a neat edge. Turn under
and secure with tape. The paper should ex-
tend over both ends of the box a little more
than half the depth -of the box. Fasten the
ends by folding the sides in, the top flap
down, and then the bottom flap up. Secure
with concealed tape. Attach a matching gift
trini or seal.
Tips'on Tying
Dress up your wrapped package with any
one of a wide variety of ribbon and cord
available in a myriad of colors. Fasten your
chosen ribbon in basic fashion across the
package or on the diagonal, or use your im-
agination to come up with a variation on
these designs. An interesting effect can be
created by basketweaving different colors
of ribbon or yarn around a package. Or try
an hourglass design (works best with yarn
and curl ribbon or cord). And doli't forget to
save your leftovers — you can use them on
smaller packages.
Do -It -Yourself
Bows
While thereare a wide variety of beautiful
pre -made bows available it's fun to try your
hand at a personally styled one. Yarn and
curl ribbon are the easiest to work with.
To make a yarn bow, loop the yarn back
and forth until the desired number of loops
is reached. Tie very tightly in the centre
with a separate piece of yarn and flare the
loops out to form the bow.
