Brussels lady takes top score
Eleven tables of euchre were in play at the
Blyth Memorial Hall, Monday night. The
winners were: High lady, Mrs. Mike Cumm-
ings (Brussels); low lady, Dorothy Daer;
high man 11-larvev fn1mage (Seaforth): low
man, Ted Fothergill; ladies lone hands,
Dora Shobrook (Londesboro) ; men's lone
hands, Cliff Hoegy (Walton), special, Ella
Richmond.
Churches ready for Christmas season

The Christian Reformed Church Ladies
Society will hold their Christmas meeting on
December 11 at 1:30 p.m. All ladies are
welcome to attend this meeting:

The Annual White Gift Service was held
last Sunday at the Blyth United Church with
a large attendance.
The Sunday School pupils with
Superintendent Steve Sparling and teachers
attended and each student carried a white
gift.
Rev. Ken Bauman led the service and
Mrs. Donald Kai organist led the service in
song. Mrs. Tom Cronin directed the Junior
and Intermediate choirs. The Senior Choir
and the Girls' Choir also sang.
Mr. Sparling told the congregation and
children where the gift would be given, The
Ministry of Family and Children Services of
Huron County. All Sunday School class
members placed their white gifts in the
white boxes in the front of the church.
Nine students from Blyth Public School
and Hullett Central School took top honors in
the 1984 Remembrance Day Literary Con-
test, sponsored by the Blyth Branch of the
Royal Canadian Legion.

BELGRAVE - The general meeting of the
Belgrave United Church Women was held
Nov. 29 in the school room.
Mrs. John Roberts opened the meeting
with a Christmas story.
The worship service was in charge of Mrs.
Harold Vincent and Mrs. Cliff Walsh, Mrs.
George Johnston presided at the piano.
Ladies quartette, Mrs. Les Shaw, Mrs.
Jim Lamont, Mrs. Glenn Coultes and Mrs.
Bill Coultes accompanied by Mrs. George
Johnston, sang two songs.

Pee Wees take Exeter 5-4
Blyth Pee Wees played their third game of
the hockey season against Exeter in Blyth
on December 1. Blyth won 5 - 4.
Exeter started off quickly scoring two
goals before Blyth got on the score sheet
with a goal by Shane Taylor. Art Bos quickly
tied it up with a good goal after some hard
work by Michael Preszcator.
It was exciting andgood hockey as the
teams played .end to end with two goals by
Exeter, offset by two goals by Darrell
Elliott.
With onlytone minute and 13 seconds left
in the game, Shane Taylor notched the win-
ner for a hard-fought 5 - 4 victory. Hard-
working centre, Ricky Howson, played a
strong game as did Joel Jenkins who played
good defence and forward.
Keep up the good goal tending Michael
Cronyn and Richard Shaddick.

Joan Marie Higgins and Murray David
James were married on Nov. 24. The
ceremony took place at the home of the
bride's parents. Rev. John G. Roberts
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Higgins, R.R. 5, Brussels. Parents of
the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Glen James,
R.R. 5, Brussels.
Sandra Cook, of Oakville, friend of the
bride was maid of honour. Stacey Hinz of
Mitchell, niece of the groom, was flowergirl.
The groomsman was Brian James,
brother of the groom. Ruth Higgins sister of
the bride, was pianist.
Euchre Winners
Eight tables were in play at the weekly
euchre held in the W.I. Hall on Nov. 28.

novelty lady, 1Virs. Stanley Black; low lady,
Eva McGill; high man, Leslie Vincent;
novelty, man, Clarence Hanna; low man,
Mel Jacklin. •
The next euchre will be held Dec. 3 at 8:00
