Dale Lamont of London visited on the
weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Lamont and also visited -with his sister and
brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cottrill
and baby Shawn of Wingham.
Carrie McGuire of the Copeland Lodge,
Wingham spent last Wednesday with Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse.
]New dam could cost
$300,000 for Wingham
WINGHAM - A plan submitted by
engineer Allan Stinson of Del Can has been
given approval by a citizen's committee and
will be suggested to Wingham Town Council
as the course to take in replacing the Lower
Town dam.
The cost of the' dam, still in preliminary
planning stages is estimated to be about
$300,000, said Ron Beecroft, chairman of the
committee.
The plan submitted by Mr. Stinson re-
glires the removal of the remains of the ex-
isting dam, some of which collapsed during
a flood earlier this year, and the con-
struction..,of a structure of clay, stone and
earth.

The November meeting of the Auburn
Women's Institute was held last Tuesday
afternoon in the Auburn Community
Memorial Hall with the president, Mrs.
Eleanor Bradnock, in charge. The meeting
was opened with the Ode, the Mary Stewart
Collect and 0 Canada with Mrs. Emerson
Rodger as pianist. After welcoming
everybody, Mrs. Lawrence Plaetzer gave a
reading, "Be the Best you Can".

This season the Lucky Devils have moved
to the Blyth Broomball • League from the
Teeswater League. Last week the Devils
made yet another move, and that was into
sole possession of first place in the Blyth
loop. The Devils have played seven games
thus far in the regular season and are the on-
ly undefeated team. with a record of seven
wins and no losses. In those seven games the
Lucky .Devils have outscored their opposi-
tion by a margin of 41 to two, and have
three of the top four scorers in the league on
their squad.
On November 20, the Devils took on the
Goderich Oarsmen and posted their sixth
straight shutout this season with a 5-0 vic-
tory. Albert Forsyth and John Beadle both
had a goal and, an assist, to lead the Devils.
Single goals also went to .Brad Johnston,
Wayne Carter and Donnie Carter,.while.
Wayne Saunders and Rick Louthier picked
up one assist each.
November 22 saw the battle between the
only two undefeated teams in the league,
and the Lucky Devils managed to edge the
Lanesville Lords 3-2 in overtime. The Lords
took a 2-0 lead in the first period on two goals
by Steve Howard, with Nic Beyersbergen
assisting on both goals.
Early in the second period the Devils tied
the game, with two goals within .one minute
by Dave Carter and Donnie Carter. In over-
time the league's top scorer,. John Beadle,
set up Rodger Forsyth for the game winner.
• The Devils' two other assists went to Wayne
Carter and Wayne Saunders.
In further action on November 20, the
Maitland Dirt Riders scored 'four goals in a
three minute span in the first period en
route to a 6-2 win over the Auburn Falcons.
Jerry Bremner led 1Viaitland with two goals
and one assist,, while Rob McIntosh- added
two goals and Calvin James and Kevin Pen-
nington picked up one each. In' the assist
department Brian Westbrook collected two,
with Kevin Pennington and Hank Pardys
