Blyth- Festival art gallery
now open year-round all
The Blyth Festival art gallery has made a
• progressive step with the exhibition of
works by Edwin Krauter currently on
display. The show marks the gallery's in-
itiation as a year-round facility. The move -
comes as a response to the continuing in-
terest by the public and frequent request by
artists for an extended season.
On exhibition through November are pain-
tings, prints and plates by Ethel area artist
Edwin Krauter. Using a variety of
mediums, he depicts the, surrounding coun-
tryside and its residents, the down-home
scenes from which he draws his inspiration.

•,tists during the coming months. Any profes-
sional artists interested in displaying their

oe warms up the Elin Haven
By Janet Tench
CLINTON - While Saturday's cold winter
wind sent chills through us all, a new band
was warming up those at the Elm Haven.
Jane Doe was in Clinton again.
"We like it here. The crowds are good, "
remarked Nancy Keillor, lead vocalist.
"I'veplayed the area in other nano," aa-
ded Pete Gripp, bass and most recent
member," and Clinton is one of the better
places."

'84) Jane Doe does not lack experience.
Nancy Keillor (formerly with Oo la la)
studied jaza. Doug Cochrane, lead guitar,
has done some solo work. Playing for 10
years out of London, Pete Gripp has been in
Storm and Red Line. Jamie Remus, drums,
has a great tool with his Simmoms electric
drumkit.
Basically Jane Doe is a cover band, per-
forming hits by the Police, Van Haien,
Judas Priest, Billy Idol, and Springsteen. Of
course they do some original pieces. The
songs Reach Out, Words of Love and Come
Astray were executed with the same vitality
as their counterparts.
The band's performance brought heartier
cheers as the evening wore on, which were
well-deserved. Nancy would go into the au-
dience to include them in the performance.
Doug, Pete and Jamie showed with their
happy expressions that they were truly glad
to be there.
When asked, the band had lots to say to
their public.
On videos: "People are getting bored of
videos. They're just commercials for a
song. People are still going to concerts. Live
will prevail."
"Videos are hinting big bands. It'll end up
with gigs in smaller places, with more
devoted fans, but look at the movies; they
didn't wipe out plays."
On rock: "Some rock makes people ag-
gressive and powerful, but rock really pro-
vides an outlet for fantasies.
Finally, the band says a Big Hello and
thanks for your support.
