Suddenly at his residence, • on Thursday,
November 1, 1984, Hugh M. Norris, of RR 2, Staf-
fs, in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Annie
(MacDougald) Norris. Dear father of John of Ex-
eter, Harry of Stratford, Mrs. William (Mary)
Egan of London, and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Hume of
Glencoe. Dear brother of Ray Norris of Kirkton,
Bob Norris of RR 2, Staff°, Mrs. Harvey (Winona)
Jacobi of RR 2, Kippen, Mrs. Don (Hazel) McLeod
of Ailsa Craig. Mrs. John (Margaret) MacDougald
of RR 5, Stretford, Mrs. Orville (Lila) Storey of RR
1, Seaforth, Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Davis of RR 4,
Thamesford, Mrs. Hugh (Donna) Flynn of RR 1,
Londesboro, and Mrs. Boyd (Cecelia) Hartwick of
Stratford. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren.
Predeceased by 3 brothers and 1 sister, Friends
were received at the Lockhart Funeral Horne,
Mitchell, after 7:30 on Friday, and on Saturday 2-
4 and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service was
held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Roe
Anderson officiated. Interment in Roy's
Cemetery.

John Sr., passed away in Clinton Public Hospital,
on Wednesday, October 31, 1984; John Von Den
Assem of Blyth in his 83rd year. Dear father of
Margaret .(Mrs. Henry Jongsam) of Brompton,
Annie (Mrs. Piet Reinsma) of Clinton, Corry (Mrs.
Alvin Wallace) of Blyth, Tina (Mrs. Henk Zeilstra)
of Holland, Tony ,of Desboro, Nick of Calgary,
John of Brussels and ten of Ottawa. Step -father
of Mary Guetter of Florida, Margaret (Mrs. Case
Kuiper) of Clinton, Joan (Mrs. John Van Den
Assem) of Brussels and Art Lazet of Goderich.
Grandfather of 32 grandchildren and great-
grandfather of 20. Brother of Mein (Mrs. Os.
Groeneveld) and Jean (Mrs. Jan Den Dunnen)
both of Holland. Predeceased by his first wife
Margaret Klop (1946) and his second wife Joan
Martins (1972), one step -son Peter Lazet and also
by several brothers and sisters in Holland. Visita-
tion at the Tasker Funeral Home, Blyth, after 2
p.m. 'Friday. The funeral service was held at the
Christian Reformed Church, Blyth, on Saturday,
November 3 at 2 p.m. Interment Blyth Union
Cemetery.

The family of the late Captain Richard Simons

flowers, who donated to the Clinton Hospital In-
tensive Care Unit, the Ontario Heart Foundation,
the Arthritis Society and the Trinity Anglican
Church Chancel Guild. Special thank you to
Reverend Aubrey Bell who officiated at the
burial service, to Reverend Lawrence Mould who
gave the Eulogy, to Michael Falconer, who gave
unfailing support and to the Anglican Church
ladies' for providing the welcome repast. Your

Lieutenant Commander Murray E.
Stanley CD took over• the duties of
Commanding Officer for the Canadian
Forces Station in' Aldergrove, B.C. this
summer.
LCdr. Stanley is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Eldon Stanley of •Grand Bend and formerly
of Clinton. He was born in 1939 and received
his public and secondary education at
Clinton schools. In January of 1959 he joined.
'the Royal Canadian Navy ' , where he
specialized ih communications.
Early in his career, LCdr. Stanley served
on a variety of ships and shore
establishments on the east coast and in the

Arctic as a radio operator. In 1969 he went to
the west coast as a petty officer of first class.
and received his commission as an officer.
He completed his officertraining on the east
coast, then served on submarines in Canada
and in the United Kingdom. He also served
on Canada's last aircraft carrier, the HMCS
Bonaventure.
From January 1974 to July 1978, LCdr.
Stanley served at CFS Aldergrove as the
technical officer. Here he co-ordinated a
major expansion' which included renovating
the .galley, single ' men's quarters and the
Operations Centre.
From Aldergrove he was posted , to
Esquirnalt as the officer ,in charge of the
communications school and then as the
senior staff officer of comunications to the
Commander Maritime Forces Pacific.
In his present position, as Commanding
Officer, he .is looking forward to the future
for CFS Aldergrove and part of that will
include the Canada wide celebration of the
75th anniversary, of the founding of the
Canadian Navy.
Today the Aldergrove location covers
1,300 acres. The Matsqui Prairie, where the
transmitters are located, covers 300 acres.
A. total of 136 military personnel and 41'
civilians are employed at CFS Aldergrove.
Aldergrove's task is to maintain a 24 hour
radio contact, 365 days a• year, with the
Canadian Pacific Fleet and all her allies
operating in the . Pacific from Australia,
New Zealand, United States and United
Kingdom.
LDdr. Stanley '. will be posted at
Aldergrove for the next three years with his
wife; Judith, daughter Itaren and sons
Charles and Mark.
