4-H'ers plan
pot luck supper
The fourth meeting of Blyth II was held at
the home of Karen Stewart on Oct. 10.
Members answered the roll call: What
household chores do you do that requires
strength?
Members were told that they would have a
pot luck and a game of volleyball on Nov. 7.
Books were read and home activities were
gone over. Members did a fill in on a
snacking profile. They sampled cheesy
popcorn, apple jog nog, and bacon loaf and
everyone liked everything. -by Sherri
Howson.
The fifth and sixth meetings were held at
the home of Lenore Scrimgeour on Oct. 24.
Members read review questions and filled
the answer in their books. They did home
activities, including preparations for the
fitness meet and pot luck supper. They
decided to have a pot luck supper at Karen
Stewart's with parents as guests and then a
volleyball game, with any parents who
wanted to play at the school. -by Lori
Leibold.
Kimberley Ferguson is one tough girl. Although she had a sore foot during the Blyth
Skate-a-thon on Nov. 3, she went back on the ice and helped raise funds for Blyth minor
sports and figure skating. Kimberley's mother, Diane, made sure her daughter's foot
was alright before sending her back on the rink. This year's bi-annual event raised
$1,700. One and a half -year-old Derek Cook was the youngest skater and had a total of
$135.50 in sponsors. ( Anne Narejko photo)

with a busy year.

held in Parkhill on Sept. 21- 23 with five boys
attending.

Uniteds celebrate 22nd anniversary
By Sheron Stadelmann
The 22nd anniversary of the opening of the
Blyth United Church was observed last
Sunday. Rev. Cecil Wittich of Listowel was
guest speaker at the morning and evening
services. Margaret Kai was the director of
the music and organist, assisted by Cheryl
Cronin. Kim Craig and Diane Wasson were
the pianists.

led the services. The ushers were Mr. and
Mrs. Bert Fear. Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Caldwell, Millar. Richmond, Bert .Fear,
Doug Howson and Jett Howson.
The Junior Choir sang the anthem, and a
duet Sundown was sung by Cheryl Cronin
and Diane Wasson. The Senior Choir also
sang an anthem.
Rev. Wittich took for his sermon The
Crucial Question. He stressed that the root
of faith is to think of the past and that God
can find a purpose in lives of people who
listen to him. He stated that the purpose of
suffering is to remember God and rely on
his principles. This produces character. and
hope. He closed by asking all to have peace
with God.
At the evening service Mr. Wittich told
about his trip which he and his wife took to
The Holy Land this past summer.
The Senior and Intermediate Choirs
provided the music for the evening service.

Lordslookingfor championship
Last season the Lanesville Lords advanc-
ed to the Blyth Broomball League Cham-
pionship finals, where they lost to the 8th
Liners. After their first three games, the
Lords appear to be headed to another suc-
cessful campaign, recording three suc-
cessive wins. Lanesville is a team with plen-
ty of talent and speed; combined with last
year's playoff experience, the team definite-
ly has its sites set on the league title.
-On Oct. 30 the Lords recorded their third
victory of the season as they knocked off the
Maitland Dirt Riders by a score of 44. Steve
