HOLIDAY—On Wednesday there was no school session as the boardhad granted a holiday to pupils and teach- ers to allow theixi to attend the West- ern Fair, in London, many of whom went and enjoyed the day's outing. We mentioned a few weeks ago the high stand which Herbert Gregory son of Mr, Thomas Gregory S. P,. took in the examination for Tumor Leaving. We understand that he has now decided to prepare for the profession of law and has entered. the office of J. G. Stanbury of town under whom he will study for five years. The aroods just now are beantifuf. There is a freshness about them that is more frequently found in early summer than, in fail. The long period of wet weather is showing its effects in the unfaded leaves of the trees. Only here and there is found a tree which has yielded to the inexorable hand of time arid allowed its leaves to fecome tinged with autumn colors. There is plenty of nuts of all kinds this year, a sign, many believe of a cold winter.
