brush and crew cuts now $1.
The fire alarm test blasts each week on
the dot of one o'clock certainly have their
funny side sometimes. When the ladies
visiting the washroom at a nearby
restaurant heard the alarm whining, they
rushed back to their tables, wondering if the
martians had landed, or what in the world
was going on.
Perfect weather, cool after a fairly warm
day, made the Main Street carnival of

Dectective Greer of , Toronto was in
Bayfield to investigate what was known as
the "Burns tragedy" and to have the
matters published in its proper form. The
detective found that the late Mrs. Burns died
the natural death of heart failure and was
greatly displeased at the simple
misjudgement of the authorities for the
empanneling of a second jury when all that
was necessary was done by Coroner Shaw -
jury and first jury.
A sad accident occurred at the
Holmesville' bridge, Goderich Township last
Thursday afternoon, by which Nixon. Sturdy,
the well-known clerk of the township, lost his
life.
Mr. Sturdy andMr. George W. Tebbutt
had purchased a portion of the old bridge
and were taking it down: Mr. Sturdy was
pulling out a bolt when the side frame
collapsed and crashed through the floor into
the river carrying him with it. He was
struck on the head and when picked up was
unconscious. He was rushed to Dr. Gunn's
hospital, but he died about midnight.
During the morning Mr. Sturdy had two
minor accidents and . as premonition,
remarked at dinner, "It seems as if I am
going to be killed today."

Dear Editor - As several persons have of
late had their gardens destroyed by cows,
will you please tell me if breachy cows are
allowed to run at large and if I can claim
compensation for damages done. Yours, A
Citizen.
The town bylaw says that no breachy cows
shall roam at large. Owners of cows who
roam are liable for all damage, but the
trouble, is a man does not like to make bad
friends by impounding his neighbor's cow
and many submit to injury and loss sooner
than create any trouble. It is a gross
inj ustig to allow cows to run at large at all.
Shaker Blood Syrup - cures completely

of Mercury, Podide of Potassium of any

•DON'T dive into above -ground pools.
These pools were not designed for diving.
•if you've been drinking, use your head.
tON'T show off for your friends or take
dares - the result can be tragic.
