Cards, games and crafts entertain Huronview residents on Monday HURONVIEW - Monday morning activities in the auditorium, included cards, games and crafts. There is always something for everyone to do. One of our recent creative ideas, is the making of fans from bristol board, and touched off with posies made from tissue paper. The fans are quite decorative and colorful andthe size of them isdetermined, by the number of squares used in the making. Ours are hanging on the walls and give an attractive showing. In the afternoon, an'ice er,eam social' was held and needless to say how popular this event was. There was a ,table set up with quite an assortment of mouth-watering `toppings', and the idea was to take your dish of ice cream, and decorate it however you wished, whether it be a sundae, a bananhsplit or whatever, and the result was some interesting concoctions. It was a great afternoon, and we are hoping for more of the same, during the rest of summer. Itwas a beautiful day Wednesday, for all the events that took place. First, the men from Men's Floor were treated -to -their noon.. meal of hamburgs and hot dogs. They really enjoyed being outdoors, and the aroma of the food cooking on the barbecues. Special Care folk, went outside for their social hour, and took part in the program planned for thern. Ladies from 2nd Floor visited Sloman Park, where the old train coach that served as a schoolhouse of some years earlier, now stands. No doubt the people of Clinton know the historical value of this quaint building, which has been renovated,'and now stands gracefully as a landmark. So it was in these surroundings, that our ladies enjoyed a picnic lunch. A number of residents went to Goderich in the morning, to spend the time shopping, and while there, decided to have lunch, before returning in the afternoon. From all - reports, the ladies from Ground Floor Centre, thoroughly enjoyed this.outing. The weather wasn't co-operating too well on Thursday, so the ,barbecue planned for residents in the south Wing was postponed until another time. Ed Stiles from Goderich was here in the afternoon. and entertained residents as he played numerous selections on the chapel organ. Everyone was getting excited in anticipation of the staff baseball game, to have been played Friday afternoon, however, it had to be cancelled due to the Next service at Duffs on Sept.2 By Betty McCall WALTON - The final worship service was held at Duff's United Church Sunday morn- ing until 'Sept. 2, while The Rev. Charles. Swan is on holidays. Greeters on Sunday were Ruth Thamer and Wilda Bailie. Organist was Marion Godkin. Offering' was received by Bruce Clark and Graeme Craig. The Rev. Charles Swan sang a solo arid his sermon was "Remember who you are". The flowers in the sanctuary were from the Saturday wedding of Kim Humphries and George Kruse. The Sunday School also convenes on September 2. The guest minister for that day will be Rev. D.L. Howlett. On Sunday, September 16, The Rev. Al Johnston (formerly of Brussels) will be guest speaker at the 119th Anniversary of Duff's United Church., change in the weather. August will soon be upon us, and so far summer hasn't been all that great, but we are keeping our fingers crossed, and will see tate girls and boys in action yet. So instead of the game, residents took part in a few rounds of bingo. Sunday morning worship was in charge of Cheryl -Anne Sampa. This is Reverend Sampa's last service, since Reverend Pick, having returned from holidays will be with us next week. We have been inspired by Cheryl -Anne's ministry and company, and hope she will be visiting us again. This concluded her series concerning the Ten Commandments. During the service, Margaret McQueen sang a lovely solo and the choir also sang. We would like to extend awarm welcome to Mr. Robert Harry Adams from Goderich, Mr. Louis Elgin Taylor from Varna and Mrs. Edith Elizabeth Pickard of Clinton who have come to reside at Huronview. To the family of the late Mr. Graham, we express our sincere sympathy. Clinton area obituaries William Theron Betties, 91, died on Sunday, July 22, at Huronview.
