For 45 minutes, each Wednesday morning, the Day Care clients relax in the cool comfort of the pool and go through an exercise routine led by Miss Fremlin. Each client is assisted inthe water by a volunteer who donates an hour -and -a -half of time of their time each week to help out with the water program. "It's very hard to "find volunteers," Mrs. Wise said, noting that all it requires is an hour each week. Volunteers, she noted, don't have to swim, their job is simply to assist the stroke clients on an individual basis in the waist deep water. An average of 15 people attend the water therapy club and as many as 20 could be accommodated if there were enough volunteers to help. The water technique is a well established program, but is relatively new to Huron County. It isn't designed to cure or heal, but acts as a recreational, social outlet. 4t to or pre Janet • Bannerrna"C hysio anal occupational.. therapist with the county Home rare- program explained that the. wOtertkPrOP7 Slims 010 people a feeling of normalitynd n sense of a accomplishment.
