• Pavii1B casts questioned
The village's 1984 paving program has
been completed but council is dissatisfied
with Levis Contracting of Clinton's bill, that
ran an estimated $2,000 over the tender
price of $44,731.65.
Stan Telford, a representative from B.M.
Ross and Associates Engineering of
Goderich advised council that the cost
increase was dire to additional asphalt,
which was required for shouldering along
Gypsy Lane. The additional asphalt was
needed in order to have proper drainage.
Also more asphalt was required than was
indicated in the tendered price.
• Council intends to review the matter with
B.M. Ross And Associates.

Another phase 'of the downtown
beautification plan was put into action last
week as the Dinsley Street - Blyth Inn Park
project was started.
Clerk Walsh said a 40 x 7 foot planter box
has been built.and Globe Maple trees and
shrubs will be planted. Railway ties were
also purchased to serve as a border. Total
project cost estimates were unavailable.
Council will delay the implementation of
banners along the main street until the
spring of 1985: This decision was made
, because council felt it would be too late in
the season before they would be erected.
The banners have been redesigned and
are now smaller in size. They will likely
display the village name on them and will be
hung from utility poles in the downtown
core.
Bill questioned
Councillor William Manning questioned a
$425 bill submitted by architect Nicholas
Hill oncerningcmeetings with council and
designing fees.
Mr. Hill's bill included the complete
• design for the village sign, hall landscaping,
design for tree planting and for selecting
design and price for the canvas banners.
• The fee also included Mr. Hill's meetings ,
with council on May 28 and June 4.
Mr. Manning was oppossed to paying the
biltbut the motion approving paymentvas
passed by council in a recorded vote.
