The Clinton News -Record last week
remarked editorially: Tuesday's -all-day
rain was a Godsend to the country and was
welcome to everybody. We could do with
such as one every week.
Tuesday of last week was election day,
and the only rain here was the all -day rain of
ballots which flooded out the . Henry
Government. It was welcome to the
• majority of people; at any rate; but it is
hardly necessaryto repeat it every welt:

Among the needs of Clinton as. The New
Era' views the situation are: producer gas,
new G.T. depot, CPR connection;
'permanent roadways, a busier •board of
trade, a big boom in our industsries,
increased telephone connections, a town
clock in the post office block, an agricultural -
fall fair full of " go and snap, modern
standpipe for increased fire protection,
citizens with money willing to . invest . the
same, cultivation of an . increasing r
friendliness with our rural neighbors,
willingness to second every practical,
movement for the public • good, earlier
closing up of busi'ss places ,at night,
particularly on Saturday, More widespread
encouragement to the employees of. labor,
by..word and effort, greater enthusiasm over
what we possess as a town and notaficaiMO
talk about it.

The editor of The Brussels.Post, who.spent
a couple of days in town recently, publishes
his opinion of Clinton and matters here as
follows:- Clinton is a very promising town
and from its control position in the county,
good surroundings, live business men and
enterprising newspapers is destined, at no
distant day, not to only become the Capital
of the county but attain to the proportions of '
a city: There are no less - than three
townships represented within the • town
limits., We visited the Doherty Organ
Factory, where some 30 or 40 men are
employed, and—were .shown through the.
various departments from the ground floor
up, and had the work of manufacturing the
celebrated organs explained. A very
extensive business is being carried on,the
the outlook is very promising.
Creamery Butter - Mrs. W, Herbison left
with us last week a sample of the butter
turned out by the creamery Mr. Herbison
has lately started. It was as good an article
of dairy product as .we ever • tasted, and
should command the highest market price.,
We might .mention in this connection, the
creamery is 'now running steadily with
every prospect of a good season's trade.
