HURONVIEW — Monday and tuesday
afternoons, • Huronview residents par-
ticipated in a `workshop'. Here they spent
their time making waste baskets, and
creating flowers from tinted tissue paper.
Special Care folk spent a relaxing time
together, listening to music, and enjoying
coffee and cookies.
The birthday party for June was held on
June 20. The Women's Institute from Clinton
had charge of this event. Lois Elliott was
chairlady, and introduced the program.
Watson webster playeda medley of old
familiar tunes on the mouth organ, accom-
panying himself with the tape recorder.
These days we don't hear much whistling
acts, and so we are always pleased when
Dora Heard is on the list of performers.
Dora did a fine job on her whistling
numbers, assisted .hy Wat Webster. Wendy
Watson did step -dancing routine, followed
by Elgin Nott with his violin selections, and
talented Gladys Vanegmond presiding at
the piano.
Hunderds of senior citizens met at Huron view on June 21 for a barbecue lunch and
afternoon program, in celebration of Senior Citizens' Month. The pork barbecue was
prepared by the Kinburn Forresters. (Wendy Somerville photo)

We are the leaves of

Children are the hope of the future,
but the future is becoming more and
more uncertain. The world wants to
raise a generation equipped to realize
its hopes, but doesn't seem to know
where to begin.
In the Baha'i community, we're begin-
ning by teaching our children that there
is only one race, the human race.
Together we are learning that dif-
ferences of colour, culture and
language are things to enjoy, not walls
to keep us apart.
,The teachings of Baho'u'Ilah, the
Founder of the Baha'i Faith addresses
(adults and children alike: "Regard ye
'not one another as strangers. Ye are
the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of
one brunch."

Gladys then picked up her accordion and

and brought the program to a close. Cup-
cakes and cool drinks were served.
Thursday was officially the first day of
summer, and it was a gorgeous day with the
weather co-operating beautifully. It was
Senior Citizens' Day, but one for everyone in
which to participate. Mary Gibbings
welcomed guests and entertainers to a pork
chop barbecue. It is uncertain at this time,
as to how many people were served, but the
front parking lot was filled, so it is assumed
that a good number was here, including
residents and staff.
It was a delicious meal, and we wish to
thank the Foresters of Kinburn who cooked
the pork chops and to Betty Rogers and her
staff for providing the extras. Everything
was so completely organized, it came off
without a fault. So with everyone's appetite
filled, they say back and enjoyed the follow-
ing program.
Mary Gibbings introduced the performers
who provided the entertainment. Arnold
Craig, Marie Flynn and Wayne McClinchey
played a favorite tunes, and everybody en-
joyed the songs, sung by Wayne. This was
followedby the Clinton , club of . square-
dancers. They were introduced by • Frank
Falconer, arid. nut. in the brightsunlight,
looked terrific in their white ..and'-• blue
costumes. Elsie Henderson performed with
her bells and dancing doll, accompanied by
Frank Bissett at the piano. At the conclusion
of the program, perhaps one of the
highlights of the afternoon was the draw.
Whenever there are tickets to be sold,
Huronview can always count on terrific
saleslady. Pearl McFarlane, who does a
super job. Pearl has her corner down at the
main entrance, and very few people got by
her, without a sale being made. So it would
only seem right, to have Pearl draw the win-
ning tickets. Janette Rodger of Wingham
won the afghan. The `dough people' that
have become so popular,. were won by. Jean
Sinnomon of Goderich, and Shirley McClure
of Seaforth. •
Huronview extends a warm welcome to
new residents Betty Lutz of Auburn, Myrtle
