Hospital hires Belgrave student
GODERICH - Janice Dunbar of Belgrave
and Diane Bogie of Goderich have been
hired by Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital (AMGH) to develop a long term
plan.
The students are working through a
Career Access Program grant.
administered by Canada Manpower.
The project will take 14 weeks to complete
and the bulk of the work will involve
compiling statistics to measure the
hospital's future growth and needs. over the
next 10 years.

A good number listened to the experiences
of Mrs. James limiter, Mrs. John McIntosh
and Mrs. Richard_Moore of their recent trip
to Haiti, Mrs. McIntosh expressed thanks
for -the donations they' took to the Grace
Children's Hospital and the Haiti Baptist
Mission. •
Scott and Sally Hortop. of Hanover,
workers with International Child Care also
took part in the question period. They have
assisted in Haiti on several occasions.
The worship. service was conducted by
Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler, Mrs. Laura
Johnston, Mrs. Jack Taylor, Mrs. Jack
Higgins and Mrs. Alive Bolt. Mrs. George
Johnston played the piano.
Mrs. Wheeler read a poem. Mrs. Bolt read
the scripture.
Announcements included, Camp
Experience, June 14 at Camp Bimini and the
Auburn UCW Ceramic Tea, June 16, from 2-
5 p.m.
The next meeting will be Church in
Society, on September 27 at 8:15 p.m.

Armstrong Reunion •
The Armstrong family held a reunion at
the Women's Institute Hall on June 3.
Fifty-seven family member signed the
guest book. Mrs. Ellen Armstrong of
Pinecrest Manor, Lucknow was the guest of
honor.

Teeswater, Ripley, New Hamburg,' St.
Augustine, Wingham, Vanastra, Lucknow,
Bluevale and Belgrave.

Stonehouse Friday afternoon. They were
dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Dungannon hosts Huron -West WI annual

The 84th District Annual meeting of
Huron -West Women's Institutes was held
Monday, May 28 in the Dungannon United
Church with the Dungannon Branch being
the hostess branch.
Provincial Board Director, Mrs. John
Templeman of Staffa, ratified the District
Directors from the 12 branches. They are as
follows: Auburn -Mrs. Marjorie McDougall;
Belgrave-Mrs. Jim Hunter; Blyth -Mrs.
Evalina Webster; Clinton -Mrs. Mervyn
Batkin; Dungannon -Mrs. Winnifred Girvin;
Goderich-Mrs. Mary Clairmont; Goderich
Township -Mrs. William Porter;
Londesboro-Mrs. Margaret Taylor;
Maitland -Mrs. Bevin Brown; St. Helens -
Mrs. Harold Cooper; Tiger Dunlop -Mrs.
Richard Buchanan; and Wingham-Mrs.
Margaret Foxton.
Mrs. Jacklin thanked everyone for the co-
operation and help she received during her
past year as president.
Ed Stiles of Goderich played several
selections on the piano, accompanied by
Mrs. Roberta Linskill on the accordion.
Mrs. Templeman brought greetings from
the Federated Women's. Institutes of
Ontario and brought the district members
up to date on the business of the WI in the
province. She spoke of the pilot project
undertaken by Perth South District offering
child care to busy farm women through
government grants.
She also spoke of WI scholarships
available to 4-H girls and hoped that there
would be more publicity regarding the
MacDonald Awards not claimed by the
girls.

200 entries at the quilt competition at Milton.
Mrs. Doris Bushell of Wingham was the
winner of the quilt which will be presented to
Queen Elizabeth as a Bicentennial project.
Mrs. Templeman stressed the importance
of the "Water For All" project and asked for
support of this worthwhile project for the
Associated Country Women of the World.
Mrs. Jane Muegge of the Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food gave her report on
the Home Economics Service in Huron
County. She thanked the WI Branches for
their support during the year and reported
that over 800 women had taken the rug
braiding course in the county. The other
programs were also well received.
She said the 4-H program had 700
members. She explained the new program
also includes Junior Farmers. The new age

Community Shower
On June'2, friends and neighbors joined to
honor Alison Chane Roberts, daughter of
Rev. and Mrs. John Roberts,. at a
community shower in the Women's Institute
Hall in Belgrave.
The event featured a mock -wedding skit
presented by the United Church young
people. A humorous poem highlighting
various anecdotes in Alison's life written
and recited by Ruth Gordon, the hostess for
the evening, was read.
The evening concluded with lunch served
by the ladies, and a social hour during which
the -guests viewed the gifts and greeted
Alison, her mother and the mother of the
groom, Mrs. Norma Miculan of Hamilton.
Meribeth A. Scott is a recent graduate of the
Food Service Management course at
Centralia College, Huron Park. She is the
daughter of Murray and Wilma Scott of RR
1, Belgrave.
