The 125th anniversary of the Hinton
Spring Fair was a huge •suss, say
officials of the Central. Huron Agricultural
Society. Fine weather, an euc.eilent
program, and added attractions combined
to bring in over 9,000 people to the three•day
event.
The Huron County Board of Education
stood its ground Monday afternoon telling
the Concerned Citizens. Group of Huron
County English literature texts had been
approved according to board policy and that
was that.

One of the worst results of the past cold
winter was the killing off of the beautiful
vine, on the Royal Bank. It seems to have
been pretty badly frozen, as it is only putting
;out a few leaves here and there. Usually at
this time of year that south wall is a solid
mass of green, which remains until fall,
when the leaves turn a brilliant red before
falling off.
One of the heaviest expenditures of the
County Council is the hospitalization of
indigent patients. Last year the bill for this
amounted to $25,000. This is a large sum but
evidently the outlay had to be made by
someone, the question being who was to pay
for it, the county or the individual
municipalities? In future, it was deckled all
costs for incurable patients will be paid by
the county, and one half of all other patients
from Huron County treated in Huron County
Hospitals, the other half to be changed to, the
municipality.

Some boys will get into trouble if they do
not desist from meddling with street
gratings to cellar windows.
Market your wool at Clinton. Buyer Smith
is now ready to handle all you have to sell.
He has already received a considerable
quantity. For washed Wool the price is 16 to
17 cents.
Some boys have developed the habit of
running over private lawns and flower Beds,
and when owners- venture to remonstrate
with them they receive impudent. and
abusive, answers from the.. young vandals.
An introduction'to P.M. Andrews would do,
the lads good.

The Holmesville Bridge We understand
that no work whatever has been done' on
Holmesville bridge this season, and there is
yet about fifty pieces of timber to be got out
for it. Mr. Harbottle, the contractor, said
some time ago, that he had a barn to build
and his seeding to do before he would
proceed with the bridge, but fears are
expressed by some that he does not intend to
go on with the work, We hope they are
groundless fears. The matter will come up
at the present meeting of the county council,
and he will probably be communicated with
at once.

Hospital hits
roadblocks
ININGHAM - The new emergency -out
ppgtient wing proposal for the Wingham and
District Hospital is at a standstill.
Although the project contract was
awarded two months ago, actual
construction has not commenced because of
building permit problems.
As of early last week the hospital still had
not been able to obtain a building permit for
the project as a result of its failure to meet
parking requirements. Efforts to solve the
parking problem also appear to be bogging
down.
A bid to lease land from a nearby church
as a short term solution has run into local
opposition. The town' recently received a
petition signed by two dozen area residents
who opposed the parking lot.
The hospital has proposed acquiring
properties on the hospital block as a long
term parking solution and is awaiting final
confirmation on the purhease.
