Happy '18th
Karen
McBain Publications, Inc. is most pleased
to announce the release of a fine new paper-
back edition of Elizabeth A. Willmot's best-
selling book, Meet Me At The Station.
This book is as much a story about people
as it is a pictorial history of Ontario railway
stations. Perhaps no other author has gotten
as close to grass-roots Ontario as Elizabeth
Willmot.
The daughter of a prominent Toronto ar-
chitect, Miss Willmot is singularly qualified
in her detailed descriptions of the many
railway station buildings. Her years of
research and travel took her to every rail
town in Ontario, where she became in-
timately acquainted with the people and ac-
tivity at the station.
She revitalizes early railway com-
gitiv
munities with anecdotes of railroadpe'
sonalities, stories of when and how towns
got their railroads, and accounts of .the ex-
citement and humour rail travel brought to
rural communities. She has talked to people
in every town along the line - of survival and
tragedy, of pranks and "characters", aild of
the magical awe of the puffer -bellies in ear-
ly Ontario.
Miss Willmot, a resident of Clinton, will be
talking about her book and showing slides at
the Blyth Memorial Hall on Sunday, May Z7
at 2 p.m. Her presentation is part of the,
many activities surrounding Huron
County's Largest Used Booksale, a fund-
raising proJect for the Blyth Festival. Ad-
mission to this event is free and everyone is
welcome.

hospital.

of the evening. Eleanor Fisher played the
niann and Beta Wright sang. A skit was put
on by Rachel Johnston and Mary and Elmer
Trick.

Bernice and Lloyd Batkin for the high score,
and Ida Wright and Mabel McAdam for the
low score.

will be present at the next meeting to
discuss the club's grant application.
