HENSALL - Mr. Charles Miekle of
Hamilton spent the holiday weekend visiting
with his mother Mrs. Laird Mickl
Jhn Pollock of Toronto visited � parents
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Pollock recently.
Mrs. Bertha MacGregor returned home
after visiting in Toronto and Oakville with
her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs.
Don R. MacLaren, Jodi and Brooke.
Mrs. Frank Falconer of Athabasca, Alber-
ta visited. recently with her brother, Dr. J.C.
Goddard, Mrs. Goddard and family. Dr.
John Goddard of University of Guelph
visited on the weekend with his parents and
aunt.
The residents of Northcrest Home
welcome newcomers Mr. and Mrs. John
Pepper from Exeter. They enjoyed a pot
luck dinner on Thursday evening when 16 at-
tended. The flag was erected on Thursday
and will be dedicated at the opening Sunday,
May 27. Seniors are enjoying daily exercises
each week, conducted by Mrs. Shirray.
Mr. Nelson McClinchey of Brantford
visited recently with his grandparents Mr.
and Mrs. Glenn McKnight.
Mrs. Ken Pollock and Mrs. Gary Maxwell
enjoyed a bus trip on the weekend to see the
tulips at Ottawa.

Vice Grand Eunice Aikenhead opened
Amber Rebekah Lodge on Wednesday even-
ing. Treasurer Bonnie Upshall gave the
financial report. Communications were

tion of officers was .discussed for the coming
year.
The DDP's donation of a bed to IHuronvieiiv
was made. A discussion arose about the
Float for June 5, Bewail Fair, also the
Church service on Sunday. May 20. The
fiitancial secretary Aldeen Volland gave a -
very gratifying report of the Dessert Euchre
held last week. Happy Birthday was sung to
Dorothy Corbett and Edith Bell.
Rev. Kenneth Knight conducted worship
in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday.
Dorothy Taylor presided at the organ.
Choir practice will be held on Thursday
evening.
Next Sunday Mr. Robert Elliott of
Holmesville will be guest speaker at the
136th Anniversary service at 11 a.m. Sylvia
Struyf will be guest soloist. Lunch will be
served and everyone is welcome.
Mrs. Janet Sangster spent a few days in
Toronto last week.

Legion News
The Hensall Branch of the Royal Cana-
dian Legion held its monthly meeting on
May 0.
A request from the Hensall Legionnaires
baseball team was received and a $100 dona-
tion was made, One hundred dollars was
also made to the slow pitch league. The
month of May is the Flowers of Hope Cam-
paign and $100 was donated to this worthy
cause as was $50 to Family and Children's
Services for camping needs.
Elections were held and the new slate of
officers for the coming year is: past presi-
dent, Peter Allan; president, Larry Uyl;
first vice president, Dave Smale; second
vice president, Monty Plumb; secretary,
Bea Uyl; • treasurer, Murray Traquair; Sgt. -
at -arms, Irvin Ferris; executive, Ted
Roberts, Mona Campbell, Terry Sweiger,
Charlie Cooper, Paul Neilands, Lloyd Allan,
Pete Zwaan and Fred Campbell.
The Legion Auxiliary held their meeting
the first part of May with a good attendance.
A donation of $50 was made to the Flowers of
Hope and $50 to the Crippled Children's Cen-
tre.
Comrade Marlene Zwaan is in
Westminster Campus having treatment.
The new slate of officers for the coming
Year is: past president; Alice Neilands;
president, Colleen Ferris; 1st vice presi-
dent, Donna Allan; 2nd vice president,
Jessie Cameron; secretary, Mona Camp-
bell; Sgt. -at -arms, Marg Vanstone: ex-
ecutive, Jean Munn, Joyce Willert, Kilda
Smale, Vera Smale, Louise Allan and Lillian
Beet,.Sperts officer elected is Louise Allan.
Unit I meets
Anita Cook opened the Mayrneeting of the
UCW Unit L May is Family Unity Month
with special emphasis on Mother's Day. In
the past there would be as many as three
generations living in the home and authority
was issued by the grandparents but family
life has changed in modern times.
Knowing God's Love, was Helen Scene's
study. Keith Jamieson one of four mis-
sionaries to India, believes that fellowship
should be established first, to follow with
evangelism or theology in missions.
The business meeting followed and upon
completion Audrey Christie read a poem.
Lunch was prepared by Vera Drysdale,
assisted by Audrey Christie and Gert Mid-
dleton.
United news
Therewas an excellent attendance from
the Hensall IOOF Rebekahs and Canton
Branch on Sunday morning as they held
their annual Church Parade to the United
Church. Bob Taylor and Wayne Love were
the flagbearers and Charlie Hay was parade
master. The Scriptures were read by Grant
Love and Gerry Upshall.
The service was conducted by Rev.
McDonald. Greeting the congregation was
Raye Jacobi and the ushers were Troyann
Cole, Pauline Bell and Joanne Dayman.
This Sunday John Noakes, a Hensall
native, studying for the ministry, will be the
guest minister while Mr. McDonald will be
attending conference.
