Pennies still ,count for CWL
CLINTON - The monthly meeting of St.
Joseph's Catholic Women's League (CWL)
was held May 15 at St. Joseph's Hall. It was
well attended with 28 members present.
The meeting was chaired by President
Anne Brand. A delegation of five ladies at- -
ended the recent Annual Diocesan Conven-
on in Sarnia and Rita Flynn gave a detail -
d report.
Nellie Wammes reported on the Spring
Rummage and Bake Sale that was held.
In the past, two teams of members col-
lected pennies for Father Abraham's Mis-
sion in India and an approximate total of
$230 was realized.. Who says "pennies don't
count anymore." These will be presented to
Father Abraham personally while he is
visiting in Canada.
A new slate of officers will be installed on
June 10 at the Church. Spiritual Director
will be. father John Pluta; Past -President
Mrs. Anne Brand; President Mrs. Ken
Dupee; First -Vice President Mrs. Kate
Moriarty; Secretary Mrs. Trus Ten Hag;
Treasurer Mrs. Mary Van den Elzen and
Card Committee Chairperson Mrs. Anne
Ball.
The meeting ended and a plant auction
was the highlight of the evening. Lunch was
served by Rita Flynn and Margaret
Reynolds.
Reverend calls for livelier parish
life to understand your faith
The Right Reverend Derwyn D. Jones,
presiding at his first Synth:, as Bishop of the
Anglican Diocese of Huron, has called for a
three year emphasis on Intentional
Evangelism which will create a livelier
parish life and enable Anglicans to ar-
ticulate their Christian faith in a more at-
tractive way. A resolution endorsing Bishop
Jones' call to Intentional Evangelism pass-
ed unanimously.
Over 600 delegates to Synod passed a mo-
tion committing themselves to take action
against pornography and violence.
Delegates were asked to return to their
parishes( to influence the community's
perception of what is acceptable with
regard to pornography and violent sexual
activity.
' A report on the restructuring of Synod,
.two years in the making, will form the basis'
of further study to seek grassroots support
in the parishes and at regional Great.
Chapter meetings to ' reduce the size of
Synod and streamline its work.
Total Synod delegates presently number
about 800 representing parishes in an area
stretching from Windsor to Brantford and
from Lake Erie to the Bruce peninsula.
Synod also approved a motion to raise
$220,000 during the next year to aid the
hungry in Third World countries, and
recommended the federal and provincial
governments entrench the principle of self-
government for aboriginal peoples in the
Canadian Constitution. "

fragan Bishop of Toronto Diocese called
upon all Anglicans to accept the mandate of
Christian evangelism.
Suffragan Bishop, Morse Robinson em-
phasized evangelism as a lifelong challenge
for the Anglican Church.
James R. Caskey, Q.C., was named suc-
cessor to Judge Joseph Winter, who receiv-
ed a special tribute on his retirement as
Chancellor, a position he has held for the
past 11 years.

Next Sunday, Huronview minister
Reverend Pick will be away but in his place
will be Ethel McPherson, Jacqueline Ar-
chibald, Tim Collyer and Betty Scratch con-
ducting the worship service. Special music
is being provided by the choir of Ontario
United Church with organist Louise
MacGregor.
There was a large attendance in the
auditorium on May 14 afternoon, when
Marie Flynn and group of musicians
presented an hour's entertainment of old
time music. There was a varied program of
fast and slow tunes and -old and new; a little
of something to please everyone's taste.
Special Care folk and ladies from 1st
North got together in the activity room.
They listened to music played from the
stereo, and enjoyed a cup of coffee and
cookies.
The Women's Institute of Dungannon con-
vened the birthday party for May in the
auditorium, and there was a good atten-
dance. Mrs. Ila Crozier presented a pro-
gram of singing, musical numbers and
readings. Myrtle Fairservice thanked
guests.
Mid -week Bible Study was held Thursday
afternoon in the chapel, with Mrs. Prouty in
charge, and who also led in the singing of
hymns. A reading from God's WordToday,
was given by M. Prouty and followed by
prayer. A Colo was sung by Mrs. Prouty,
another solo was sung by Mabel Alderson.
Elsie Henderson presided at the organ: The
meeting closed with prayer by Shirley Prou-
ty.
In the evening, residents gathered in the
auditorium for a program presented by the
Klompen Feest singers and musicians. They
appeared in traditional costume right down
to the wooden shoes and added much color
to the concert.
Over 75 attend
Blind Club
CLINTON The May meeting of the Blue
Water Blind Club was held on May 15 with
supper at the Wesley Willis Church. Over 75
people attended.
Mrs. Vodden introduced Alice Brothers,
along with Freda Pipe, who played the
piano. George Cox also played the piano for
a sing -a -long.
Club members had their pictures taken
for identification cards.
The June meeting will be held in Mitchell.
The meeting willinclude a picnic.

Glenda Hoelscher, daughter of Mrs: Ida
McAllister of Goderich, and Ronald P.
Deleary, son of Mrs. Marie Saunders of
Kincardine and Harold Deleary of Phoenix,
Arizona, were married in Knox
Presbyterian Church Chapel in Goderich on
April 21 by the Reverend G.L. Royal. The
bride was given in marriage by her son,
Gordon Hoelscher. Matron of honor was
Doris Ellison and best man was Grant
Ellison,' both of Goderich. Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald P. Deleary are now residing in
Clinton.

made contributons at the Blood Donor Clinic held on May 16. The clinic was sponsored by

The lottery featured more than 25 prizes
donated by. merchants from throughout the,
county and)roceeds from. the draw will be
used to support the services offered by the
Huron County group.
The draw was made at Clinton's Klompen
Feest celebrations and Mrs. Vere
remarked, "The chapter , sincerely
appreciates the efforts of the ticket sellers,
contributors, of prizes and volunteers. We
also thank those who baked muffins for the,
booth at Klompen Feest."
