The registered, nota- profit charitable
organization was incorporated in 1978 to
provide the services of trained homemakers
to people in their own homes throughout
Huron County.
Visiting homemakers are qualified to
assume full or partial responsibility for in-
fants, children, youths, adults and the elder-
ly. They can ,give personal care including
bathing; help with eating; and simple bed-
side care under medical direction.
Homemakers will supervise meal planning,
prepare nourishing food and special diets,
do shopping, light housekeeping, laundry
and other necessary tasks like mending.
Each homemaker is also willing to offer a
listening ear and moral support over a
friendly cup of tea. A close bond has
developed between- many visiting
homemakers. and their clients.
Last year 102 homemakersand
homehelpers provided 51,663 hours of ser-
vice to 1,838 clients. Of these, 56.6 percent
were private clients paying the private

In her remarks, Mrs. -Trick said the Town
and Country Homemakers' mandate and
goal is to serve the existing needs of Huron
County. She emphasized that all dollars
raised in the county are spent in the county.
The organization has received requests
from other counties asking for help and ad-

expanding existing services.
Guest speaker Angela Armitt, former
dean of part-time and continuing education

hour with a string of light-hearted anecdotes

basic care and one of the Biblical proverbs
affirms that, "a merry heart doeth good like

bones".
