A new issue of counterfeit $1 bills of
the Dominion of Canade has made its
appearance in Toronte. The paper is
an unusually good imitation, but lacks
the crispness of a genuine bill. The
coloring is good. The back of• it is a
good reproduction, but the ,face pre-
sents a blurred appearance, One pe-
culiarity, is that the numbering is the
same as that of the counterfeit 'twos"
which made their appearance a short
time ago. -

able and interesting reading. The

The new five and ten dollar bills
issued. by the Sovereign Bank of Can-
ada are a work of art, The coloring
is harmonious and the combination
entirely new in Canada. The five dol-
lar bill has one of the finest cuts of
the King yet produced. The ten
dollar note has a vignette of Britannia
seated with spear and shield, guard-
ing agriculture, commerce and menu -
factures, typified by products of the
earth, ships and factories. A lion re-
poses at her feet. The issue is modell-
ed after the notes of the bank of

REV. In., HICKS FORECASTS FOR
JULY, —A Venus disturbance is eent-
ral on the 2nd, extending its influence
beyond the middle of the mohth. The
effects of this Venus period will be
very marked during the regular 'Vul-
can storm period extending from Mae
4th to the 10th. On the 4th and 5th
Moon is at her extreme declination
north, in perigee, and at, New Moon.
These facts, added to other existing
causes, foreshadow a warria wave of
great intensity, a low state of baro-
metric pressure, a high per cent of
atmospheric humidity, and some
Wicked storms Of thunder, wind, ritin
and hail. The loth day of My is not
strictly within the limits of a storm
period, but it is the date on Which the
Moon grosses the celestial equator,
and is covered by the combined in-
fluences of the Venus and Mercury
periods. Hence the reactionary
storms due about the lith to I3th,
will most probably develop on and
touching the 10th. Excessively
'warm weather will exist prior to the
storm culminations at this time. The
opposition of the planet Saturn falls
on the 17th, and unless frequent and
general electrical storms occur to
break up the concentration of solar
energy, a prolonged term of intense-
ly warm weather will continue
through all the central part of the
month. On June 10th the date of the
fatal and devastating storms in many
sections, we passed between Uranus
and the Sun. On Jult, 17t1i we will
pass between Saturn and the Sun, and
on August Oth, we will sail in between
the Sun and great Jupiter. If we do
not ha,ye such a broken up order der -
July and August, but & prolonged
heat, with little electrical phenomena
general and severe drouth will pre -
yell over most parts of the country up
to the September equinox, and the
present seismic state of unrest will be
prolonged. The central Vulcan
storm period for the, month covers the
15th to the 20th, being central on the
17th, the day of Saturn's opposition
with Earth and Sun. We 'may there-
for expect some notable disturbances
between Wednesday the 10th, and
Monday 20th. If these disturbances
do not take the form of heavy elect-
rical storms, plAnoraenal heat will
prevail and seismic perturbations will
probably culminate on and near the
20th. The 22nd to the 24th inclusive
will bring a reaction from high to a
lower barometer, the temperature
Will Ake to higher readings, and
storminess, with lightning, threaten-
ing cloods and rain in many localities,
will be natural, all reaching thp cul-
minating stages on and touchitig the
24th. The last storm period for July
will culminate during the closing days
of the month, low barometer, clown -
testi with probable tame and thunder
storms hell* in transit from West to
east as July
