marked their 60th anniversary last Friday
as a commerative plaque was unveiled at
their Park Lane offices. A dinner followed at

The Huronview Ladies Auxilliary's dream
came true on Monday when they presented
the keys for a special wheelchair
transportation van to Huronview. The
Ladies raised the money by soliciting
donations from nearly 50 service clubs,
groups and churches from across Huron

Clintonians and the people of Huron
County can speak with pride of RCAF
Station Clinton, and join with other
Canadians in marking the 35th anniversary
of the RCAF on April 1. Station Clinton, the
• first radar training .establishment in_North
America, was established 18 years ago this
coming summer.
Within a few weeks, it is expected that a
plentiful supply of blood for use in elective
work at the local hospital, and throughout
Middlesex and Huron Counties will be
available. Organization of the service has
been undertaken by the Canadian Red Cross
Society, in co-operation with the Ontario .

An • ,inspector for the Post Office
Department was in town a few days ago and
after looking things over he sent a
recommendation that Mr. Huron Murch,
who has been in charge at the Post Office
during the illness of the late postmaster, Mr.
Scott, be left in temporary charge until a
new postmaster is appointed. Mr. Murch's
work has been perfectly satisfactory to the
department and to the post office patrons
and he is to be congratulated on this
temporary appointment.
The Provincial Government is to
experiment in -the lighting of highways, a
trial to be made on• No. 8, in the Grimsby
district, the stretch being described as the
most dangerous strip in the province. The
initial cost would be from $1,000 to $1,500 per
mile, with a cost of $20 per mile per year for
maintenance.

Sampson, the man convicted sometime
ago of arson, has been sentenced by the
county judge to three years in the Kingston
Penitentiary. Sampson is of somewhat weak
intellect and it was thought the House of
Refuge might be a suitable place to have
him confined, but as the House of Refuge
committee decided not to have him as an
inmate the judge sentenced him to a
penitentiary.
Before the summer is over Seaforth will
be the centre of a net work of rural
telephones. The installation of a line in
McKillop last year created a desire for
telephone service in Tuckersmith, and they
have now completed arrangements for quite
a compressive circuit. Two lines are
proposed, one running from Seaforth to
Hensall, by way of the Kippen road, with
spur lines. The other line connects that
portion of the township known as the west
end with Seaforth and Clinton.

Spring nas made its appearance
somewhat earlier than usual this year. The
snow has nearly all disappeared and the
roads are so muddy that travelling on this is
not the• speediest or most agreeable means
of locomotion.
According to the Snn., Mr. John Biggart,
of Clinton, met with a very painful accident
on Tuesday of last week, while engaged
skidding logs in Mr. Mark's bush, which lay
him up for some time. The harness broke, a
piece of them catching Mr. Biggart and
tearing- a hole in his leg leaving the cords
and the bone bare.
On the 19th inst., as Mr. Wm. Campbell of
Harpurhey, was cleaning his rifle, it
accidently went off, and the bullet passed
through a rootn door and shot his wife who
was standing in the bedroom. The bullet
passed through the left thigh bone,
shattering it, then passing out entered the
fleshy part of the right thigh and passed out.
The bullet was not found and its final
destination is unknown. All has been done
that surgical skill can do in the meantime,
but the opinion of the surgeons is that the
end will be a fatal one - (Any man who
attempts to clean a loaded gun is a fool of the
worst kind.)
