In memoriam • McCONNELL In loving memory of a dear husband, father and grandfather who left us one year ago, March 14, 1983: We will always remember the way he looked, And the way he spoke and. smiled, The little things he said and did, Are with us all the while. He meant so very much to us, That nothing we can say, Can tell the sadness in our hearts, As we think of Dad each day. It doesn't matter the day or year, There is always a heartache, always a tear, Memories don't fade, they just grow deep, For the one we loved but could not keep, Life goes on, we know that's true, But not the-same•D®d, without -you -Always-remembered by-Anne,-Gretta-and.-lobo, Barbaro and Cliff, Lee, Dan, John, Marty,1ioE and David. --11 MASON In loving memory of John, a dear son and brother who passed away March 13, 1982: Sod was the parting, no one can tell, So sudden on earth the sorrow felt The blow was hard, the shock severe, To part with one, we loved so dear, Dearer still as years depart, His memory lives within our hearts. Sadly missed and always remembered by Mom and pad, sisters and brother. -11x WHITMORE A token of love and remembrance to a son.and brother we will never forget. Ralph E,. He never failed to do his best, His heart was warm and tender, He lived his life for those he loved, And those he loved remember. If he could have spoken before he died, These are the word*he would have-reptied,, This life for me is truly passed, loved you all till the very last, Weep not for me, but courage take, And love each other for my sake. Sadly missed and always remembered by daughter Faye, son-in-law Harald and nine grandchildren. -11 By Janet Tench Canada's music is perhaps the most diverse in the world. We have the proud Buf- fy. Ste. Marie (the well-known Indian singer); we have the world famous Liona Boyd; we have the jazz of the Powder Blues (who recently won awards at the Jazz. Festival in Britain); we have blue grass,t country and pop. In Canada's rock scene, there are three basic types of music. Bruce Cockburn and the Payolas aregiving definition to Cana- ,date rack, Loverboo has taken up the Almerican _sound.Tails,-has Saga, with ilial* new-... album H ads or `pals; alas a sound -that- is - • definitely British. Surprisingly, although there is a renewed demand for the British sound, Saga has not had monumental success in Canada, despite the fact that they have had sold out concerts across .Europe.. However,, with their latest.. LP the band is reaching more Canadians. The two singles from Heads or Tails are Flyer and Scratching the Surface. The latter has received the most airplay of the two; it attacks those that are hooked on the media (much like Queen's "Radic GaGa" ). As well, Heads or Tails' resonant music has great diversity in style. For example, the cheery -sounding The Vendetta ends with the motif played on a music box. The Pit- chman has the voice of a tourist being conn- ed by a salesman in the background. aToucheslike these make repetitive listening delightful. r 1 PORTER I want to thank my neighbors and friends for the, lovely surprise on my birthday and for the cake and goodies.'
