Work is' slated to begin .sudn, and may be
ready for the end of June.
Clinton's grandstand is all paid off, and it
didn't cost the taxpayers a. dime, the Clinton
Kinsmen learned at their meeting last week.
For the first time in }Arnett Township's
history, the clerk's office will. be located in a
Wilding other than the clerk's home as
Clerk Clare Vincent and his staff begin mov-
ing this week, into the new township offices
and public works building, half -mile east of
Londesbbro. The road crews have been us-
ing the new building since early February,
and a grand opening is planned for later this
spring.

tuating wildly between minus 15 and plus 10
in a few short days. Before the snow storm
on the weekend, several warm days last
week gave the Clinton public works depart-
ment a chance to begin cleaning up the tons
and tons of sand covering town streets.

Sandra Fremlin was crowned Queen of
the At Home Dance at Central Huron Secon-
dary School last Friday night. Miss Fremlin
was picked from 25 entrants and was crown-
ed by Karen Tyndall, who stood in for last
year's Queen, Brenda Colclough.
Hallett Township's dump controversy has
surfaced again and this time it appears it
could end up in a court of law. Last week at
their regular March meeting, Hallett Coun-
cil instructed the clerk to contact the
township's solicitors to start proceedings to
. stop the dumping of garbage on lot 24, con-
, cession 10.

with the controversial expropriation of
about 2.3 acres of property, commonly call-

There was•a reasonabik noisy hassle at
council meeting on -Monday evening. Pro-
bably we should report.verbatim, what was
_, mid by everyoir a thele; It •woii14•make-'in
Sesgstipg reading, we, suppose, and would
give .,townsfolk and ' the •,country • at ,large, .
.Iteins of conversation for weeks to come.
But we're ,not going to do' it. -.For two
reasons; first, because if anyone in town
was interested in the actions of council we
feel they should attend the .meetings;
secondly, because a long record of the ses--
sion made public would do the community

The Christmas tree at the town' hall, which
has been standing since its erection before
the. Christmas festival, was cut down last
week, presumably to provide wood for the
school concerts. The stump will no doubt be
left until the ground thaws.

Dare Not Publish All - There are events
occurring in every community which, if
reported in a local paper, would create a
commotion little dreamed of. What to.report
and what not to report often perplexes the"
editor. He is often unjustly accused of
cowardice and favoritism, when a.11 the time
he is looking toward the good reputation of
the town where his lot is east. The local
editor from necessity almost constantly
finds himself ., between two fires, and'
whichever way he turns he is sure to be un-
justly treated.

The Right Of Way - a few days since Mr.
T. Welsh, of Goderich Township, laid infor-
mation against Mr. John Woon, on a charge
of obstructing the •roadway. Both had loads,
and were going in opposite directions on the
. Bayfield .Road. The case was tried before
Messrs. Cox and Hinks, at Porter's Hill, who
evidently' considered Mr. Woon in the
wrong, as. he was fined $1 and costs. Mr.
Woon then laid information' against Mr.
Welsh on a similar charge and the case was
tried before Mayor Forrester, who adjudged
Welsh, in the wrong, fining him $1 and costs.
- He gave notice to appeal, but the affair
was afterwards amicably settled.
Don't allow prejudice to stand in the way
of your judgment. If you need invigorating,
if your system needs bracing up, if you are
constipated, your liver sluggish,•your head
aches; if you are subject to sick or nervous
headaches, if you lack energy in the morn-
ing, and want ambition at noon, go to work
and stir: your liver and digestion with Zo-Pe-
Za. ' Regulate your bowels and general
system-witlr this -sure -speedy -and-pleasant
antidote to all troubles arising from the liver
and stomach. Try, a sample anyway.
A singular freak of nature may be' seen on
-the premises of Mr. C. Wells, near Varna, in
the shape of a year old steer with one eye
and one horn. On the left side of the face
where an eye should be is a thin, loose place,
which moves when the eye on the other side
winks, but there is no eye under it. From the
place where the horns have grown a swell-
ing of the skull runs down along the face arid
is covered with white hair which at a
distance gives it the appearance of a white
poultice, as the color Of all the rest of the
body is red.
