Wedding game plan starts long before the big day

Bridal consultants and bride books recom-
mend wedding plans be set in motion as soon
as the engagement is announced.
Wedding countdowns begin at least six
months before the big day, but if there's a,
year to spare, start then, especially when
booking a reception site.
• Six months before don't forget to:
• Discuss expenses with all concerned and
set a firm budget. This will determine the
size and formality of the wedding.
• Set the date and time of the ceremony
and rehearsal with the clergy.
• Select and book reception hall. If an at-
home wedding, book caterer and garden fur-
niture or tent if needed.
• Choose and notify bridal party and
discuss finances.
• Draw up guest list and notify fiance's
family to do same.
• Select musicians, • florist and
photographer, including soloist or organist.
• Have fiance notify best man and ushers. A
general rule is one for every 30 persons.

• Send for honeymoon brochures and
discuss plans.
• Shop for wedding gown and accessories.
• Choose china, silver, crystal, linens and
other household preferences.
• Register with the bridal registry.
Three months before, remember to:
•Engage bridal consultant, if desired.
•Select and order invitations from
jeweller, stationer or department store.
Allow enough time for engraving and ask for
outer and inner envelopes to besent- im-
mediately for addressing.
• Order personal stationery for thank -you
notes.
•Fiance should make honeymoon reserva-
tions. .
• Decide on groom's attire for wedding.
• Consult with priest; minister or rabbi
unless a civil ceremony. Some churches re-
quire marriage counselling before wedding.
• Arrange transportation for wedding par-
ty and parents to the church and reception.
• Select attendants' dresses.

clothes.
• With only two months to go:
•Begin an accurate list of gifts. received.
• Keep up with thank -you notes as gifts ar-

town guests and attendants.
• Seek advice from physician or local
health unit about birth -control methods.
• Arrange fittings for bridesmaids and
wedding gown.
•Finish invitations and announcements.
With only one month to go:
• Mail invitations.
• Select wedding rings.
• Final fittings for gown.
• Make hair appointment for day before
wedding.
• Double-check all services you've engag-
ed.
• Decide on . reception menu and give
reliable estimate of guest count.
• Order boutonnieres and flowers for wed -

• Give wedding anouncement to local
newspapers.
• Entertain bridesmaids at luncheon.
• Arrange wedding -gift display.
• Arrange for name change in bank ac-
count, social security card and driver's
licence:
• Insure wedding gifts.
• Pack for honeymoon.
• Give last minute guest total to caterer.
• Confirm singers, musicians.
• Have hair set.
On the day before the wedding:
• Arrange for someone to check the home
while on honeymoon.
• Go to bed' early.
Finally, on your wedding day:
• Relax and have breakfast in bed.
• Verify florist has delivered all corsages,
boutonnieres and decorations for church and
reception.
• Dress and be ready for photographer at
least one hour before ceremony:
• Get to church a few minutes before the
wedding.
