A respected friend initiates the toasts
Most of the men in your circle of family
and friends aren't public speakers, so call -
mg on them to make toasts can be unnerv-
.
The most-effeetive_loasts, however, are;
simply worded.
A respected family friend — but never a
relative — starts the ceremony with a toast
to the bride. Often he recounts an anecdote
about her. The toast should include the good
wishes of the guests, and congratulations to
the groom for his wise choice;
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is a honour to-
day to have the delightful task of proposing
a toast to our lovely bride.
"I have known her for many years, and
watched her grow and blossom through
childhood, her teens, and now as a married
woman.
"To the man she has married, I offer our

The groom responds, thanking the,
toastmaster for his words and welcoming
the guests. He should also include thanks to
both sets of parents, and to the bridesmaids
and maid of honor. He then makes a toast to
the bridesmaids: "To the lovely
bridesmaids (name: -thern)- and maid of
honor (name her) who have helped (the
bride) with the many preparations, I thank
them. You have added so much to this day,
enhancing it with your charm and beauty.
Ladies and gentlemen, I ask you to join me
in a toast to the bridesmaids."
The best man responds to this toast, and
