Soft pastels of mauve, pink, gray and blue in delicate chiffonsand '"ti'nely-woven knits" guarantee 'a'erfectiy turned out -mom atthe wedding. Try to choose a dress he a soft colour, as bolder, bright shades often upstage the bride and are not as flattering to mature woman. If you're planning to spend a large sum of money dti the dress, go for a seasonless style and colour so you can be assured of having an opportunity to wear it again. A long sleeved jacket over a bar dress is another way to get extra mileage. Select either a long gown or cocktail length, depending on the size and formality of the wedding. If the bride is going tradi- tional, it's perfectly acceptable for the mother and mother-in-law to wear floor length dresses, regardless'of the size of the guest list. Mothers follow formal trend The single biggest difference between today's mothers of the bride and groom and, their yesteryear counterparts is the fact that they are infinitely more fashion conscious, slimmer and younger looking than before. Designers and manufacturers of bridal wear have finally realized that there is a need for attractive, appropriate garments for members of the wedding party- besides the bride. This year's favourite colours are the romantic shades of mauve, violet, hyacinth, dusty rose, peach, pale gray, cobalt and aubergine.
