Trees to be planted . .
GRAND. BEND In recognition of ..
Ontario's 200th birthday, Grand Bend will
plant 50 white pine trees.
Grand Bend's bicentennial planting will
add trees around the village in spots where
they can be most enjoyed by citizens and
visitors.
The planting ceremony will be held on
April. 12. The Hon. Lorne Henderson,
representatives from the Ministry of •
Naturak:Resources and area schools will
take part in the event.
For those who live in Grand Bend's pinery
area, the pine tree is a particularly 'ap-
propriate symbol. Area residents can see
white pine trees, in a natural setting, which
can range from six inches to 60 feet high,
adding their unique beautvto the landscape.
Escapes injury
AUBURN - ,A Woodstock man escaped
injury last week when his pick-up truck slid
into a snowbank and struck a tree in
Auburn.
The Goderich P said that Rodney Gail,
38, of Woodstock was pulling a fifth wheel
trailer on County Road 15, on King St.,
Auburn, when the accident occurred.
Damage was estimated at $6,000 to the
1978 pick-up and to the left side of the fifth
wheel trailer.
