Rec director hired for Cliiiton

CLINTON - The quest for a recreation
director ended last week when Kevin
Duguay was hired for the position.
Mr. Duguay is presently employed as
Recreation Co-ordinator for the Township of
Schreiber, which is located on the north
shore of Lake Superior. He is expected to
commence duties as recreation director in
Clinton between March 11 and 15.
"I'm enthused with this guy, he's a real
go-getter," Recreation Committee Chair-
man Frank MacDonald said of the new
recreation director, "Clinton can't help but
go ahead."

period of • two days,. before reaching a

The recreation director's first duties will
include planning and preparing Clinton's
summer programs.
Mr. Duguay, 26, graduated from the
University of Waterloo in May of 1981 with a
Bachelor Environmental Studies (BES). He
received honors in Urban and Regional
planning. He also holds a Interium Type A
Municipal Recreation Director Certificate.
His major fields of study included com-
munity organization, recreation
management and administration,
neighorhood planning and design,
recreation facility design, environmental
design, statistics, report writing and en-
vironmental law.
Mr. Duguay's interests and activities
involve volunteer work with the Royal Life
Saving Society, minor hockey and baseball
coaching. He was also a member off the
North Western Ontario Regional Sports
Council.
In Schreiber Township his duties in,

Last year, Mr, .Duguay oversaw thel
publication of"a heritage booklet. He was
involved in the writing and editing of it as
well.
Prior to his work in Schreiber, he was a
volunteer for the Ontario Water Polo
Association. His duties included the
preparation provincial league proposals,
including tournament schedules, budgeting
and government funding.
From May to September of 1981, he
worked as an Aquatics Supervisor for the
City of Kitchener. He was Recreation
Assistant in Windsor from May of 1978 until
July 1980. Included in the Recreation
Assistant's job was the position of pool
manager. He was employed in the town of
Kincardine in 1979 from May to August 1979
as a Student Planner.

The recreation committee reconnnendid
his hiring to. town council. At their Feb. 6
meeting, council approved the recom-
mendation. Council also approved his
starting salary of $21,.500. After a six month
probation Mr. Duguay's salary will increase
fo $22,500.

400 students to take part in
Forum for Young Canadians
Each year, an orgaifization known as the
Forum For Young Canadians brings to the
nation's capital, from every province and
territory in Canada, 400 students who. are
given the opportunity to discuss the pro-
cesses of government with those involved
with the decision making -
This year, . Central Huron Secondary
School is pleased to announce that it will be
represented at this Forum by Brad Lyon, a
Grade 12 honors student. Brad will share
along with others in the rare privilege of sit-
ting in the House of Commons and the
Senate. In addition, he will visit the
Supreme Court of .Canada, and participate
in a mock Cabinet discussion on the topic of
t'
immigra ion.
By the end of his one week program in ear-
ly March, Brad will have learned firsthand
about the difficulties and complexities of
government operations. As well, after mix-
ing with a wide range of students, he will
have acquired a better understanding of his
fellow ,.Canadians. across this wonderful

from the local Sorority club. A bottle of wine, flowers, cake and a
song were given by secret admirers and lovers in a Valentine Day
package, sold by the Sorority. The Bank of Montreal was the scene
of one Valetine surprise as Steve Biskup received his romantic gift.

Like all other students in this worthwhile
program, Brad will receive a very small
grant from the Secretary of State to help
cover some of his expenses. However, Brad
will also require generous financial
assistance from local organizations to offset
his travel. and course fee costs. Those in-
terested in supporting Brad should contact

year.
Huron County taxpayers pay $294,236 of
this budget. The rest is funded by the pro-
vince through community planning study

Seven new projects account for the in-
crease in communications or advertising
costs from $10,500 to $15,000 this year and
business development and transportation
costs froinl39,000 in 1983 to $58,800.
Mr. Davidson said $8,000 has been includ-
ed in the budget for the possible purchase of
a computer; He noted that the county's com-
puter study indicated the fanning and
development department should have its
own computer.
The county planner added that if a com-
puter isn't purchased for the department
this . year, the budgeted money would
transfer to the planning reserve fund.
