Seniors to get centre
LUCKNOW - Plans are proceeding to
renovate the Lucknow Town Hall basement
for use as a senior citizens' drop-in centre.
Reeve George Joynt said council intends
to meet with Lucknow seniors to discuss the
proposals for the drop-in centre once the
winter weather clears. He suggested that
the seniors could apply for a New Horizons
grant for the project.
The town hall entrance lobby, stairwells,
upstairs auditorium and basement meeting
room 'of the town hall were renovated last
year. Total cost of the project was $38,000
and grants helped offset the bill.
This year's basement renovations will
include a new kitchen and washrooms as
well as the conversion of the former furnace
room for the seniors drop-in centre.
