Management of farm
business programs
Several farm business management
courses are now underway, and othgs will
be soon commencing in 1984. Ba'l course
pill run foi-ten weeks. These prog'rarea are
4-r a co-operative effort involving the Qntarie
Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Clinton;
Centralia College of . Agricultural
Technology; and Canada Manpower. A co-
ordinator is in charge of each program.
There is no course fee because of a special
funding arrangement with the Canada
Employment and Immigration Commis-
sion.
The following courses are scheduled for
Huron County. You can register by calling

"Micro -Computers In Agriculture' and -
• "Maintenance Welding" courses are
already filled to capacity and others are
rapidly filling. It is important that you act
fast.
Swine farmer
programs
These courses have been well received by
young farmers. More Huron County young
people should be enrolling in these pro-
grama.
Young farmers who may. not , have had
post -secondary agricultural education, have ...-
a chance to learn skills involved in manag-
ing a dairy or swine herd. There are eight
days of classroom study at the college and
eight days of on-farm training conducted by
a selected farmer. Participants study, -most
aspects of lierd management including
breeding, feeding, care of the animals,'and
equipment operation and maintenance. The
on-farm training provides an opportunity to
practise specific skills and view alternative
management procedures. Enrolment is
limited to 40.
The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday to Friday each week. The dairy
course starts on Tuesday, January 24 and
continues until Friday, February 17. The
swine program is scheduled for the period
Tuesday, January 31 to Friday, February
24.

tax meeting
Undo puzzles and mysteries of. your 1983
•-intern-.-tax--form.- Attend -an --educational •
workshop. Farmers, farm bookkeepers and
farm accountants are invited to a Farm In-
come Tax Seminar at Huron Hall, Centralia
College of Agricultural Technology.
- This one day workshop beginning at 9:30
a.m:, on January 19, emphasizes changes in
income tax laws and the .implications to the
faiin business. John McNeilly, C.A. Ward
Mallette Chartered Accountants, Exeter,
conducts the session. Questions and open.
• discussion are encouraged throughout. -
If you have concerns about issues such as
depreciation, allowable deductions or in-
come averaging, just to name a few,

Training programs

Dairy and swine farmers provide on- ail'
training and experience to participants in
the Young Farmer Training Programs
organized by Centralia College of
Agricultural Technology. Young• farmers
who may not have post -secondary
agricultural education have a chance to
learn skills involved in managing, a dairy
herd or swine operation.
Applicants should already be employed
by, or be operating a dairy or swine farm
(according to course chosen) . , Each pro-
gram contains eight days of classroom
study at the College and eight days of on-.
farm training conducted by selected
farmers. Participants study most aspects of
the industry including breeding, feeding and
care of animals and operation and
maintenance of farm equipment. On -
campus classes are held in Board Room,
Huron Hall,. Centralia College.

Fridays. 9 a.m. to 4 n.m. as follows: Young
Dairy Farmer - January 24'- February 17;
and Young Swine Farmer - January 31 -
February 24.
