A co- ordinator is in charge of each program. There is no course fee because of a special funding arrangement with the Canada Employment and Immigration Commis- sion. Swine farmer programs These courses have been well received by young farmers. More Huron County young people should be enrolling in these pro- grama. Young farmers who may. not , have had post -secondary agricultural education, have ...- a chance to learn skills involved in manag- ing a dairy or swine herd. There are eight days of classroom study at the college and eight days of on-farm training conducted by a selected farmer. Participants study, -most aspects of lierd management including breeding, feeding, care of the animals,'and equipment operation and maintenance. The on-farm training provides an opportunity to practise specific skills and view alternative management procedures. Enrolment is limited to 40. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Friday each week. The dairy course starts on Tuesday, January 24 and continues until Friday, February 17. Training programs • Dairy and swine farmers provide on- ail' training and experience to participants in the Young Farmer Training Programs organized by Centralia College of Agricultural Technology. Young• farmers who may not have post -secondary agricultural education have a chance to learn skills involved in managing, a dairy herd or swine operation.
