Born on Sept.19,1885, be. was minister of St. Andrew's United Church in N :=Falls from 1931 to 1958 and kIL� Emeritus there until 1983. For more than 52 years, be endeared himself to all those who came to know him. His sincerity, his humility, his kindness and his humor touched and changed the lives of countless people in his church and in the community. He gave courage to the downhearted, cheer to the sick and lonely, comfort to the grief stricken and a helping hand to all those in need. Funeral services were held in Niagara Falls at St. Andrew's United Church on Dec. 7. The committal service was conducted by Rev: Dr. Keith Knill and Father Joseph O'Brien. The children treated the geriatric patients to carols and amides and also marched through the halls in song.1 Shelley McPhee photo ) uron Day Care clients hold turkey feast The Huron Day Care'Centre held its first Christmas party on Dec. 13 with clients from Monday, Tuesday and Thursday gimps attending. The Wednesday and Friday groups held their party on Dec. 15. About 70 attended and enjoyed turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Thanks was noted to all the staff, volunteers and helpers, including Jerry Mountford and Sandra Nivens, the cooks. Gwen Corriveau, Gib Ducharme and Les McKenzie acted out parts in mime group. Shirley Haggerty as Grandma, Sandy Davidson as the poor little girl and Edwin Zeale as Santa Claus acted out the playlet, A Christmas Gift, with Vera Thiel as narrator onthe tape recorder. Gifts were handed out by Santa Claus, Rosemary Armstrong and Karen Scruton. Happy birthday was sung for Gwen Corriveau. Frances Dunn and . Shirley Haggerty. Get well wishes went out toAnnie McNicoll, Willy de Blum, Frances Dunn and Charlie Thiel, the latter twowere in hospital Door prizes of potted poinsettias were won by Vera Thiel and Les McKenzie. Joan Spittal, chairperson of Outreach Programs° and Day Care activities was a guest. The Centre will be open as usual except on : 7 Boxing Day and New Year's then it will be on the Tuesday.
