Dec. 12 at Huronview Wilson McCartney
and his band of music makers were in their
usual spot. The kept the audience entertain-
ed with the toe -tapping style of their music.
The program consisted of old time favorites
and selections in keeping with Christmas.
What would Christmas be without little
children? Well Dec. 13, there was a twinkle
in the eye and every heart warmed, as the
tiny tots from Co-op Nursery School class
presented their idea of Christmas. There
were reindeer, elves, snowflakes, and Mr.
and Mrs. Santa Claus- These little ones,
along with their leader Sally McNichol put
on a splendid program of Christmas songs
and exercises. Myrtle Fairservice, one of
our talented residents, joined the children
and gave one of her readings, 'When All
Through The House'. Refreshments were
served to our guests after the concert.
We would like to thank the students from
the art class of Clinton Secondary School,
who came out to Huronview and applied
their talent. Here, they went to various
areas of the home, and painted scenes sym-
bolic of Christmas, on the windows that
hadn't been already done by our own girls.
The Salvation Army from Goderich, paid
their annual Christmas visit. This is a
special time of year for these dedicated peo-
ple to come to Huronview with their music
and gifts; and along with this event they
come here many times during the year, br-
inging their blessings with them.
Dec. 15 the auditorium was filled, as
residents came to the concert presented by
the students of Hullett Central School. Prin-
cipal Angus MacLennan opened the pro-
d eep to
gram, and introduced the num .'^ rs. The
school band under the direction of Mr.
Bruce Cookson, rendered a medley of lively
carols. The residents thoroughly enjoyed
the singing of the junior and senior choirs
under the direction of Barbara Bosman, and
accompanied at the piano by Bruce
Cookson. The band and these young voices
are the product of their training. They have
been coming to Huronview for some time
now, and we do appreciate their sharing of
talent with us.
Sunday morning worship, conducted by
Reverend Pick was held in the chapel. The
choir sang an anthem, and a duet was sung
by Elsie Henderson and Margaret Mc-
Queen.
In the afternoon, the auditorium was filled
for the Seaforth Lions' Club annual concert.
Mary Gibbings greeted guests, then turned
the program over to Mr. Jim Stewart who
introduced the performers. There was a
singsong of traditional carols, accompanied
by Margaret Whitmore at the piano.
Seaforth Hi-Lites, a group of local ladies
under the direction of Margaret Whitmore,
sang a number of fine old tunes, unaccorn-
panies. One of the pieces in particular, sung
by the group was the lovely arrangement of
'My Wild Irish Rose'. These ladies have only
begun singing together recently, and
already doing exceptionally well.
The talented McQuaid sisters of Seaforth
are very well known in this area, and we are
happy to have them on the program. Ann
Marie and Madonna played excellently, a
violin duet, accompanied at the piano by
Margaret Whitmore. Carol Ann McQuaid,

violinist, along with her two sisters, played
some delightful numbers, with their mother,
Mrs. McQuaid, presiding at the piano. Anne
Marie performed a step dance routine and
was enjoyed immensely. Fiske Henderson
thanked the guests for sharing a wonderful
afternoon with us. To the singing of Jingle
Bells, Santa arrived in due tirne to distribute
his gifts, assisted by the men of Seaforth
Lions' Club.
A warm welcome is extended to Miss
Grace Addison off Clinton, and Mr. Bill Arm-
strong of Goderich, who have comae to reside
at Huronview.
Christmas Bible study was held in the
chapel with Mrs. M. Prouty in charge.
Huronview's Christmas concert was put
on by the Seaforth Dashwood Community
Band, under the direction of Harry Hoff-
man, in the new auditorium, for the enjoy-
ment of residents and friends. They played a
series of rousing numbers, in the tempo for
which they are famous. Then followed a
varied program consisting of a vocal
quartet of band members from Dashwood
Lutheran Church. A group of teenage boys
with bells playing Christmas carols,
directed by Mr. Gordon Leggett of
Wingham, was skillfully rendered. Miss
Henderson of Presbyterian Church, accom-
panied by Mrs. Elsie Henderson, sang Silent
Night. A very technical violin solo was
played by Carol Ann McQuaid, acconi
panied by her mother, Mrs. McQuaid. As ari'
encore number, Carol Ann did a lively tap
dance. Several carols with band accompani-
ment, concluded the program. A coffee
break with refreshment, finished this
Band.
