A piano -organ prelude of Christmas numbers with Mrs. George Johnston pianist and Mrs. George Procter organist was presented. The opening and prayer were given by William A. Coultes, superintendent off the. Sunday School- The scripture reading was given by Renay Taylor and Jeff McKee. The children's choir sang and the White Envelope Contributions were collected by Steven Coultes and Katherine Procter. Heather McIntosh and Corey McKee col- lected the regular offering. Mr. Coultes gave a short resume of the previously reported criticism concerning the Foster Parent Plan. It was learned that a very high percentage of the donations received does reach the desired destination. Dr. McClure, former moderator of the United Church, said the suffering in the Third World is great; so the Sunday School will continue to support our foster child Reuben of Bolivia. The money needed to support Reuben is $276 annually. Rev. John G. Roberts delivered his message concerning the "Gifts" which were brought to Jesus as told in St. Matthew's gospel. UCW enjoy music Mrs. George Johnston gave a piano prelude of Christmas music before the UCW Afternoon Unit meeting at which Mrs. Earl Anderson presided. Boyle's book "Mostly in Clover" on Christmas. Christmas carols were interspersed throughout the program. People report Friends and neighbours gathered at the Belgrave Hall on Dec. 16 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Yuill on their recent mar- riage. Court Whist winners were: high lady, Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler; low lady, Mrs. Garner Nicholson; high man, Albert Cook; low man, Gordon McBurney. Winning the children's prizes were: low girl, Jennifer Procter; high girl, Julie Smuck; high boy, Chris McIntosh; low hoy, Paul McIntosh. Mrs. Garner Nicholson read an address and a gift of money was presented by John McIntosh to the newlyweds. The McDowell families of this community will be interested to know that their cousin Alva Bair of Milk River, Alberta has been honored by the Government of Alberta. A large attendance was present when the pupils of East Wawanosh Public School presented their Christmas concert on Dec. 14. The evening featured the young musicians and singers and displayed their various talents. Included in the program were special Christmas songs, guitar and piano solos and performances by the ukelele band and recorder players. They included: guitar solo, Barbara Wat- tar-n; piano solo, Patricia Daer; solo, Terry Wall; guitar solo, Debbie Colley; piano solo, Jennifer Procter; recorders, Heather Campbell, Julie Smuck, Melinda Hussey and Sharon Ramsey; guitar solo, Ben Barnes; piano duet, Sharon Colquhoun and Heather Hopper. The Christmas theme was brought out in a reading by Mrs. Kenneth Mason, "Christmas is Christ Time". Mrs. Kenneth Mason continued the study theme on Poverty taken from the book "Jesus Means Life". MARYS - The town of St. Marys will recognize each baby born in the community during 1984 as a bicentennial baby, and the first baby born in 1984 in the town will receive a commemorative bi-centennial gift and certificate. The special recognition of the newly born will mark the lartnchine of In.•.1 hi npntrnn'2 events being planned by the St. Marys bicentennial committee.
