A Christmas worship service with Ruby Philp playing for the hymns was conducted by Emily Philips and Barbara Musty. Con- veners of all departments and three unit leaders gave concise annual reports. Special praise went to the Quilting Club when Mary Campbell announced that its ladies had made and sold 34 quilts in 1983 and had two on hand for emergency pur- poses; to the Catering Head Social Con- vener, Evalena Webster, who had con- ducted her faithful and expert workers again through a successful social and finan- cial year, and to the team effort of all members when Mary Wightman, treasurer, announced that the amount of money re- quired for the past year's budget had been exceeded, leaving a balance with which to begin U.C.W. work in the new year. A complete slate of officers for 1984-1985 brought in by Mary Holland, convener of the Nominated Committee, was adopted and of- ficers were installed by Rev. Bauman. They are: past president, June Peck; president, Susan Howson; first vice, Marie Toll; second vice, Joan Clark; treasurer, Mary Wightman; recording secretary, Pottery -Antiques - Houseplants Furniture -Stereo Equipment Appliances -Lamp Bases Toys -Stove Equipment and much, much more!!! Members of the Evening Unit served delicious fruit cake and petit fours with tea and coffee. All members of the new Ex- ecutive meet on Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at the home of Susan Howson. Seaforth and District saddle club On Nov. 27, the Seaforth and District Sad- dle Club held their Annual Christmas Party at the Kinburn Hall, with 23 members pre- sent. The afternoon was enjoyed playing euchre, cribbage, Trivial Pursuit and wat- ching the Grey Cup game on TV. Following this a dinner was served, consisting of chicken, roils, beans, salads and a variety of desserts. • Immediately following dinner, the Club held its annual meeting and election of of- ficers. ( Rod Hilts photo) Blyth Public School holds concert The Blyth Public School held their Christmas Concert on Dec. 15 with all children taking part. Chris Royal played several Christmas Christmas Eve Community Candlelight Eucharist December 24th at 11 p.m. Trinity Anglican Church Blyth, Ont. Everyone Welcome Rev. Robin Lyons songs on the piano while parents and friends gathered in the auditorium which was overflowing into the hall. Mr. Bill Black, principal off the Blyth Public School, welcomed all. The music supervisor, Mrs. Shirley Vincent, accompanied for the musical numbers for the program. The Grades 1 and 2 choir sang two songs under the direction of Mrs. Elizabeth Battye and Mrs. Fathreen Roberts. The kindergarten class acted out nursery rhymes. Vanassa Ward played a piano solo and the Grade 1 class acted out E.T.'s Christmas under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Battye. Grade 2 put on a Bethlehem Pageant and Grades 3, 4 and 5 did a musical play. Grades 6, 7 and 8 also gave a musical play. BLYTH Christian Reformed Church "Guest Minister" Service 10 a.m. 2:30 p.m. Sunday School 11 a.m. New nAen ers The Blyth Leo Club held their 6th meeting on Dec. 13. At this meeting new members were enrolled. These members are: Kevin Draper, Heather McDonald, Mike McDonald, Tara Marks, Billy Bearss, Jamie MacDonald, Dean Bell, and Sonya Johnston and Angela Cotton. Deputy District Governor John Stewart enrolled the new members. He was also kind enough to make the draw. The first winner was Linda Wooden, winning a sheepskin rug. The group was pleased to make a great profit on this Christmas Draw. Leo Advisors Charlie Shaw and Andy Ives helped with enrolment and the meeting was then closed by President Lance Bearss. Bearss. The people holding other executive posi- tions are Vice President - Kevin Draper; Treasurer - Heather McDonald, and Secretary - Deanna Bearss. The following members were not present at meeting: Krista Kraft, Tom Bailey, Paul Van Beers. On behalf of the Blyth Leo Club the ex- ecutive would like anyone that wishes to have their snow shovelled to call the Blyth Leos at 523-9640 (Lahce Bearss) or 523-9669 (Kevin Draper). Leo members also wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Euchre results Seven tables of euchre were in play at the Blyth Memorial Hall with the winners as follows: high lady, Vi Howett; high man, Ted Mills; low lady, Florance Routzon; low man, Graham McDowell; ladies' lone hands, Vera Hesselwood; men's lone hands, Marg McCullough 1 playing as a man I ; special, Mrs. Mike Cummings. There will be no euchre until January 2, 1984. United Church news A Global Christmas was the theme of the Blyth United Church Sunday School Concert held on Dec. 18 at the morning service. Rev. Ken Bauman was in charge and Mrs. Donald Kai was at the organ and Marsha Szus7 at the piano for the service. The super- visor of the Sunday School, Steve Sparling, introduced the pageant. The Global Christmas and the Intermediate Choir sang accompanied on the flute by Heather Bauman. The children represented different coun- tries with flags and traditional costumes some of the countries were France, Canada, United States, Caribbean, Germany, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Italy and England. After each country was represented the choirs sang a song. The narrators for the pageant were Rev. Ken Bauman and Lori Liebold. The readers were Donna Glousher, Sandra Howson, Kar- rie and Stacey McClinthey. Rick Elliott in Scottish costume played the bagpipes. Silent Night was sung in German by Fred Meier. The ushers were Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCall, Charlie Smith, and Fern McDowell. The three choirs sang and as the children left the church, they received a bag of treats.
