The Baha'i community of Goderich Township will be celebrating this special event by gathering for prayers. This year, Canada is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This historic document is a sign of the growing maturity of mankind in its recognition of a universal set of principles and a common standard of achievement for all nations. As such, it is helping to increase the number of nations and peoples of the world who recognize that "the inherent dignity" and "equal and in- alienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world." Liz Feltham, secretary, explained that the Baha'i teachings emphasize the need for this recognition of the oneness of the human family. But they also stress, Liz explained, that the achievements of equal oppor- tunities and rights for each individual car- ries with it the obligation to eliminate those prejudices which poison our relationship and cause the conflicts and disunity which threaten our civilization."
