The Anglican Diocese of Harron elected
Derwyn Jones as coadjutor Bishop at a
special Electoral Synod held at St. Paul's
Cathedral, London on November 26.
Bishop Jones, elected second suffragan
bishop of Huron in 1982, will become ninth
Bishop of Huron on the retirement next
spring of the present Diocesan, Bishop
David Ragg.
The second ballot gave Bishop Jones a
majority in both houses: 104 clergy votes
and 245 votes from lay delegates.
Bishop Jones told the 617 delegates he saw
his election as a "mandate to continue the
kind of episcopal leadership" presently
exercised in the Diocese which stretches
from Windsor to Brantford and from Owen
Sound to the shores of Lake Erie.
"There is a need to share episcopal
ministry so bishops can get to know the peo-
ple in the parishes," Bishop Jones said.
Bishop Jones was born in Ridgetown in
1925, attended school there and in London,
and is a graduate of Huron College,
University of Western Ontario. He served in
parishes in the Dioceses of Rupert's Land,
Ontario and Huron. His last parish ap-
pointment was rector of St. James (West-
minster) London. He was appointed Canon
of St. George's Cathedral, Kingston, and
Canon Precentor of St. Paul's Cathedral,
London, in 1970. In 1978 he became Arch-
deacon of Middlesex and was elected Suf-
fragan Bishop in 1982.
Bishop Jones is married and he and his
wife, Carole, have two children: Paula, a
student at Renison College, Waterloo, and
Evan, a student at South Secondary School,
London.
Bishop Jones' experience includes ex-
tensive involvement in radio and television
production, including regular programs
with C.B.C. and local radio station. He is
also a contributing writer to the Huron
Church News and the London Free Press.

It was good to see Charlie Brown, Gwen
Corriveau, Alex McMichael, and Shirley
Haggerty back after their illnesses.
Plans are being made for Christmas par-
ties in December. The Centre has crafts to
sell yet and are working on a crib quilt.
Others are finding that exercises to music
are very easy to participate in.
The Centre welcomed Lois Fitzgerald to
the staff. She is taking over the position
formerly held by Nancy Anstett and will be
working with Karen Scruton.
Clients appreciate the V.O.N. having the
