The Commissioner of the Beaver Division, Mapieway Area and Radar District Phyllis Edwards of Clinton presided for the enrolment ceremony. She was assisted by leaders Bev. Blair and Sheron Stadelmann. The new Brownies are: Mellissa Kerr, Karry Hallahan, April Bromley, Pauline Stewart, Shelley Dobie, Nikki Snell, Laural Campbell, Janice Webster, Carrie Ansley, Jennifer Cuckey and Tina Burkholder. The girls were Elizabeth Swan, Dawn Gross, Taffeline Scott, Karrie McClinchey, Lisa Bromley, Vickie Glousher and Rhonda Stadelmenn, assisted by their leaders Brenda McDonald and Jill Roulston. Lunch was served by the girls to the mothers and fathers. Brenda McDonald, Bev. Blair, Jill Roulston and Sheron Stadelmann attended the Mapleway Area Training Day at Port Elgin on Nov. 19 at Saugeen District Secondary School. About 450 leaders of Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers attended this annual event. The theme of the day was "Riding The Crest". Nature Crafts, camp skills, songs, and drama were among the sessions that these leaders enjoyed. Euchre scores Twelve tables of euchre were played on Monday night. Winners included: high lady Dorothy Daer; high man, Mrs. Ken Glousher of Auburn, playing as a man; low lady, Mary Holland; low man, Len Shob- brook; ladies' lone hands, Vera Hesselwood; men's lone hands, Ted Mills; special, Rena Watt. Euchre will be played again next week and everyone is welcome. Just For (,) Madill's in Blyth are ocals take ost Heir Five tables of Lost Heir were played on Nov. 16 in the Memorial Hall. Winners were: high lady, Fern McDowell; low lady, Evelyn Smith; high gent, Gordon Murray of rites Walton; low gent, Harvey McDowell. Games off Lost Heir will be held next Wednesday at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join in. BLYTH AND AREA CUSTOMERS Last weekend an Old -Timer -Recreation hockey tournament was held in Blyth. MADILL Shoes, Men's & Boy's Wear 'We specialize in filling Alznner arch supports°' BLYTH 523-4451 Oldtimers and Industrial tournament a success BLYTH - Last weekend a successful Old - Timers -Industrial League tournament was held with Wingham capturing the Old - Timers' crown and Goderich Green Machine defeating Blyth tof win the Industrial Hockey Championship.° Eleven teams participated in the tour- nament with proceeds going toward Blyth minor sports. The Blyth Old -Timers made it to the final but a strong Wingham team defeated them to win the 'A' final. A good effort was put forth by the Blyth team in this tournament. The most valuable player for Blyth was Terry Rutledge who received a flight bag and a vote of thanks from team players. Special mention goes out to Bill Crawford who played well in the Rlvth net. The Goderich Old -Timers defeated Grand Bend 4-3 to win the 'B' finals. Labatt's supplied trophies, hats and beer mugs for the tournament. The excellent meals were the highlight of the weekend. Thanks goes out to the Blyth Figure Skating Club for their fund-raising efforts which included selling chocolate hockey players, skaters, Santas, souvenir pucks, Blyth pins and offered volunteer help in providing food and organizing events. A special thanks goes out to the businesses in Blyth and Londesboro and all other contributors. The hockey teams had a lot of fun, especially the Blyth Old -Timers. Kitchen fund grows Donations have been coming in fairly well in support of the effort by the Blyth Municipal Recreation Committee to buy new dishes and cooking equipment for the Memorial Hall kitchen. Nov. 16 all catering groups in village were working together to cater the Belgrave Co - Op dinner meeting and dance held at the Blyth and District Community Centre. Most of the supplies were donated and the profit of $365. was donated to the Recreation Committee for the kitchen fund. To date the following donations have been received: Anglican Church Women, $200; Blyth Legion Auxiliary, $200; Blyth Hor- ticultural Society, $25; Lost Heir Club, $25; Blyth Lions Club, $100; St. Michaels C.W.L. $75; Mrs. Mary Howson, $25; Blyth Centre for the Arts, $200; Blyth United Church Women, $50. call us, with NO LONG DISTANCE CHARGES!
