Oldtimers and Industrial
tournament a success
BLYTH - Last weekend a successful Old -
Timers -Industrial League tournament was
held with Wingham capturing the Old -
Timers' crown and Goderich Green
Machine defeating Blyth tof win the
Industrial Hockey Championship.°
Eleven teams participated in the tour-
nament with proceeds going toward Blyth
minor sports.
The Blyth Old -Timers made it to the final
but a strong Wingham team defeated them
to win the 'A' final. A good effort was put
forth by the Blyth team in this tournament.
The most valuable player for Blyth was
Terry Rutledge who received a flight bag
and a vote of thanks from team players.
Special mention goes out to Bill Crawford
who played well in the Rlvth net.
The Goderich Old -Timers defeated Grand
Bend 4-3 to win the 'B' finals.
Labatt's supplied trophies, hats and beer
mugs for the tournament.
The excellent meals were the highlight of
the weekend. Thanks goes out to the Blyth
Figure Skating Club for their fund-raising
efforts which included selling chocolate
hockey players, skaters, Santas, souvenir
pucks, Blyth pins and offered volunteer help
in providing food and organizing events.
A special thanks goes out to the businesses
in Blyth and Londesboro and all other
contributors. The hockey teams had a lot of
fun, especially the Blyth Old -Timers.
More details will be in next week's paper. -
